Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bardstown by IHG

My room was spotless and comfortable, and each employee I spoke with was professional, friendly, and ready to help. Check-in went quickly and smoothly. I had a wonderful stay and would gladly come back. The hotel exceeded my expectations, and I’d recommend it for comfort, convenience, and great service.

With two children, I asked management about other room options and was pointed toward other hotels in the area. The room they gave us was called a “king suite,” with one bed, a pullout couch, and a shower. I’d booked a three-bed suite with two queen beds and a pullout couch, and had been told the pool was open. At arrival, I was told that room didn’t “exist” at this property and that the pool was closed. Staff said they couldn’t offer more than a “two bed room,” and blamed the booking site. That left me feeling they wouldn’t take responsibility or help guests who had unknowingly reserved a room. Holiday Inn Express staff suggested other hotels, saying they were more likely to offer better service and accommodations. They cost about the same and are more customer friendly, as long as you book online. For anyone looking to stay in Bardstown, I’d try one of those other places.

This used to be my regular place whenever I was in town, but now the blinds are gone and there’s a cheap pull-down curtain that barely blocks any light. It stays ridiculously bright even with the other lights off. I wouldn’t stay here if you need a dark room to sleep. In the photo, the lights in the background are on because my camera wouldn’t focus without them.

The room had a burned-out ceiling light and a large carpet stain, and the hallway’s exterior door wouldn’t open with a key card. The pool was broken too. We’d been booked into a two-bed room, but the hotel overbooked and gave us one bed with a pullout couch instead. Outside, the building was filthy, with visible mold on the AC units for every room. It badly needs cleaning. This is the worst Holiday Inn Express I’ve stayed in, and I’m surprised they put their name on it. I’d never return.
