The ski-in, ski-out location was great, and the staff were very nice. Our standard studio had a handy small kitchen and a nice deck. The pool and jacuzzi were good, and the weight room was large and well equipped. But the hotel wasn’t ready for February break crowds. The restaurant was closed, and there was only one restaurant within a 10-minute drive, with others 15-20 minutes away. Given the limited taxis, Ubers, and Lyfts, the hotel should have offered a shuttle if its own restaurant couldn’t open. They also ran out of pillows and blankets, leaving our room with only two pillows and one blanket for two people. I’d consider returning if the restaurant were fully operating and they kept more supplies on hand, or offered alternatives when they couldn’t provide basic amenities. Dining options matter at ski resorts, especially when weather is difficult and rides are limited.

The outdoor pool, hot tubs, and Black Diamond Grill are favorites of ours, and we’ve been coming here for years. We love the homey feel, and the rooms are clean, comfortable, and well set up. The one recurring problem is noise from people in nearby rooms, which can make it hard to sleep.

The shuttle was frequent and dependable, and the location is great. Judy at concierge gave us excellent local recommendations, and the staff were wonderful. The place itself is very dated, though. The pictures only hint at it: carpets are dirty and faded, hall floors feel soft or sunken in many places, rooms smell musty, furniture is old, TVs are small, and bathrooms are basic. I found clumps of mascara on the bed sheets when I arrived. They weren’t stains, but actual mascara, so it looked like the sheets hadn’t been changed after the previous guest. The nightstand was covered in fingerprints and residue too. Since we checked in late, I slept on the other side of the bed that first night. In the morning I told the front desk and asked for fresh sheets that day. They said they’d take care of it, but when I returned at 6 p.m., nothing had been changed. I reported it again. The staff understood, but said housekeeping leaves at 3:30 and nobody was on site who could change them. They showed me where the clean sheets were in my room in case I wanted to do it myself. One morning, breakfast was delayed by about 30 minutes because a cook didn’t show up at Black Diamond. The other restaurant was closed for renovations. It wasn’t a terrible stay, but I’m not sure I’d come back.

For the cost, this was a great stay. Some parts felt dated, but we were comfortable and had what we needed. The location was convenient, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d mainly change the dining choices on site. It would’ve been nice if the cafe stayed open later, especially with the taproom currently closed.

The room worked well for the three of us over two days and one night, and I liked having access to the pool and hot tubs. Those were a big reason we chose this place, along with ski-in, ski-out access. The hot tubs felt great in winter. It was also a good week to avoid crowds at the tubs, pool, and elevators, since nearly 90% of the building seemed empty. I still wasn’t happy with the location of our room. With so many rooms available and more than half the building empty, I didn’t expect a parking lot view. The facility’s age and upkeep were bigger issues. Guests shouldn’t have to see areas that haven’t been maintained or updated. Painting, filling wall holes, and vacuuming rugs are one thing, but larger projects need investment too. The company should put money into updating the building instead of waiting and making excuses. We enjoyed the room, but didn’t love it. The small non-smart HD TV, old appliances, utensils, and cookware all showed their age. The balcony door had blinds from the late 1990s or early 2000s, and a curtain would be better. For a room sleeping four to six, there should be more than one bottle each of shampoo, conditioner, and cream. The sofa bed was okay, but not very comfortable. I’d choose the couch over the pullout, and two queen beds would be better still. The tiny kitchen needs a renovation too: the microwave was so small I could hold it in one hand, and I’d prefer a kitchenette along the sofa-bed wall instead of tucked in the corner by the door. I’d also redo the shower and tub, use a nicer but durable bathroom counter, add wall hooks and towel bars, and provide more storage and an extra Kleenex box. Better updates, artwork, and a more modern look could raise my rating from a 3 to a 4.
