Delta Hotels by Marriott Basking Ridge

I travel a lot and found this place very comfortable, with clean, really big rooms and TVs. The front desk was accommodating and let me check out late at 4pm. There’s a pleasant bar in the lobby, and breakfast for 20 bucks was good. Marriott is usually a reliable stay. Don’t hesitate to book here. Thanks, Butche the he bus driver.

The room was really clean, with lots of cable channels and sports. The front desk seemed pleasant until I asked a question. The man there seemed nice, but also agitated. I ordered pizza from the diner and it was great. The waitress was exceptional and brought it up to my room. Keep it up, I’ll stay again.

The quiet setting was a real plus, tucked away from the bustle of town. I felt I got good value for what I paid, and I’d book here again if I’m in the area. We were here for a local wedding, and the hotel felt updated and almost new. Our room was spacious and very clean, the bed was super comfortable, and the complimentary waters were a nice surprise.

The room was quiet, at least, but this was a really bad stay. It was dirty, there were long hairs woven into my towel, and a big piece of the elevator paneling was broken off. On a hot day, setting the AC above 70 degrees made it blow hot air, so we kept it in the 60s and froze. We’d called from the road that same day to reserve, asking if Marriott points could be added when we arrived and if we could switch the card used for the booking. My husband was driving and didn’t want to get his wallet out. The reservation agent assured us we could add his Marriott member ID and change the card at check-in, so we booked instead of waiting a couple of hours. Neither the points nor the card could be changed. The young woman at the desk said we hadn’t even called Marriott, but Expedia, and therefore couldn’t modify anything. Maybe some odd Google call routing or behind-the-scenes arrangement involving Delta, Marriott, and Expedia was involved. Still, blaming us showed no interest in customer service. Had she been trained? Does Marriott know this happens often? We only learned that while looking into it afterward. Ugh. What a bad experience. Go if you’re desperate.
