Baton Rouge West Inn

There was plenty of parking and no issues with it. The room was decent for the price, and the kind, courteous front desk woman let us check in at 10:30 am.

I stay here a lot for work. It's clean and quiet, with accommodating, friendly staff. A great choice if you're on a budget.

The heat quit on the coldest day, and the owner handed me an electric heater to stay warm. There was mold in the refrigerator, and when I asked to change rooms, she refused and offered to refund only half my money. Sad. Poor service, and I don't recommend staying here.

At 10 pm, exhausted, we ended up laughing because the room was so bad it was better than crying. We decided my husband shouldn't be allowed to book hotels next time. The sheets were lightly stained and as thin as Kleenex, so we gave up and slept on top of them. There were only two towels for our booking of four, which seems frustratingly common at lodgings. When my husband asked the office for more, they had just one left after giving a stack to long-term guests chatting with the front desk woman. The room smelled strongly of mildew and smoke. The moose themed bedding seemed whimsical at first, but the pillow shams looked like they hadn't been washed, and hotels don't wash coverlets, so we didn't want to use the pillows either. There were suspicious stains on the mattress, and hair in the fridge. The surfaces everywhere looked dirty, so we didn't want to set our things down. Under the sink we found what looked like a large cockroach, but it was a dried up corpse, apparently even the lowest lifeforms couldn't live there. The property and grounds look old and poorly maintained, and the area feels vaguely unsafe. A delightful first impression. Enjoy your stay!
