Paradise Inn & Suites

The rooms are clean, nice, and quiet, and the whole place is kept up well. It has a really relaxing feel and is my favorite place to stay. Every front desk person I’ve dealt with has been courteous, friendly, and glad to help. They make me feel welcome, which means a lot given why I’m traveling.

The room smelled terrible, so I loaded my truck back up and left after 10 minutes. A bum followed me to my door asking for change, then went to the room next door and banged on that door to ask the guy there for change too. The place smells like it flooded or something, and they don’t run the a/c, so the room is so humid you can’t even sit on the wet bed. It’s all slapped together. Never go here. Only the hood rats write good reviews about this place, and that’s all that’s there.

After Hurricane Laura, the owner charged my card for two nights. I had a friend help carry my belongings to the room, but within two minutes the owners came to the door saying there were too many people. I went downstairs to talk with them, and they said the king bed wasn't large enough for me, my wife, and our three little kids. They told me to leave and said I'd get a full refund. We packed everything back into the car, then they refunded only one night because we'd been in the room. We weren't the only family this happened to. Taking advantage of people during a hurricane is wrong, and that's what they were doing.

The bathroom was large and clean, and the toilet and sink looked fine. The room had a big mini fridge, microwave, flat screen TV, desk, chair, and two nightstands, though one overhead light left it pretty dim. After our drive of more than six hours through Friday rush hour, we headed out for dinner and came back around 9 PM. My girlfriend then spotted bedbugs coming from under my pillow. She also told me she'd seen a dead roach on the bed when we arrived but hadn't mentioned it because she knows I'm terrified of them. As we pulled back the covers, we found more bedbugs, other little bugs, and crumbs in the bedding. We packed up and went to the desk. I asked for a refund, and the man there walked away without saying anything, then returned with cash for the full amount. We'd paid by card at check-in, so that was odd, but I was glad not to have to argue over a refund for an hour while angry and itchy. I hadn't used the shower. The TV had premium cable, but we barely got to watch it.
