We loved being able to step right from the hotel into the gardens, where there were comfortable chairs to sit in. The view was amazing, and our room had fresh decor, a recent remodel, and a memory foam bed. My only gripes were the single-ply toilet paper and the noise from the a/c unit. Still, we had a wonderful stay.

It was clean, quaint, and quiet, and we’d definitely come back. The gardens were a nice touch, with chairs outside the room, though bring bug spray since it can get buggy at night. You’ll get the Lake Superior view if you book a lakeside room on a higher floor. Our bed was a little worn, but we still slept well.

The layout is a bit of a mixed bag: condos occupy the front row, while the back has renovated motel rooms with small patios. Our room’s entrance was at the rear, close to the garbage dumpsters, and there were a lot of flies. A wall there would help. I also thought the price was high for the space. The room itself was eclectic and charming, with a comfortable bed, two cozy chairs, and a beautifully redone bathroom. The gardens, paths, artwork, and patio areas were lovely, and there was a view of Lake Superior, though trees partly blocked it. The property is just a couple of blocks outside town.

Rosie the cat was the best part of the stay, and the staff were kind and considerate. The bed was clean and comfortable, and I liked having a mini fridge and microwave in the room. But I paid close to $200 for what felt like an $80 experience. Mosquitoes swarmed in when we arrived, the room smelled really musty, and the shower head was too low to make showering enjoyable. The towels weren’t soft, and the air conditioner was so loud it shook the room when it kicked on and woke me in the middle of the night. The place needs updating. I’d been excited by the garden photos and quirky decor, so this was disappointing.

The gardens were gorgeous, especially the tulips, and the lake view was great. We were close to town but far enough away to avoid feeling surrounded by people. Our room was nicely equipped, with a comfortable bed, a well-furnished bathroom, and big fluffy towels. I’d definitely recommend it to other travelers.
