The Boulevard Hotel

The heated pool was great, the rooftop balcony was awesome, and the room was pristine clean. The only downside is there’s no washer or dryer.

It was a clean but very small room, with a bed for us and the kid, and it’s close to the beach. The pool was clean and warm too. Still, this felt like a mediocre hotel, solid 3 1/2 stars if I could give half stars. We were told the elevator was broken when we arrived, so we had to haul our bags upstairs. That wasn’t terrible by itself, but it felt like a sign of things to come. The game machine in the games room was broken, and when we asked for pool balls, we were told the pool table was broken too. The hotel seems pretty new for so much to be out of order. There was no phone in the room, and we couldn’t find the TV remote. We went downstairs to get a remote and ask for the room to be made up. After coming back from the beach after 4 pm, it still hadn’t been cleaned. We had to go down again to ask for towels, to have the garbage emptied and to get conditioner because the bottle was completely empty. Rooms aren’t cleaned unless you ask at the desk. I also thought it was strange that the pool gates and building door were unlocked, so you didn’t need a key to access either. And every time I walked into the building, someone was cleaning the door. Every single time, which was the oddest thing. For the price, the service was way too mediocre.

From my experience, this hotel has been great. We’ve stayed here a few times, and I think some of the bad reviews are nonsense, especially when people don’t read the detailed information or haven’t worked in customer service. We got great service and a clean room. People are human: once, I had to ask again about extra towels, maybe because they’d forgotten or because I needed them sooner than they expected with the rain. Nothing major. The second time, I mentioned I’d asked earlier and they brought them right away. The staff are super friendly, and it’s fun that some of them remembered us from last year. I can’t wait to come back. I love the restaurants nearby, being close to the beach, and the pickleball courts seemed really cool. We’ll be trying for our first baby at the end of the year. I’m excited to bring our growing family here. Even being pregnant here sounds fun. I could enjoy the room or poolside while sending hubby to bring back yummy stuff. You’ve got to enjoy that while you can, right? Haha.

The location is the only thing this place has going for it. The website may look appealing, but the actual stay was far from relaxing, and for $400 a night the poor cleanliness, maintenance and management were unacceptable. The entrance looked charming at first, but the stairs, rugs and hallways were filthy and seemed like they hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The bedroom looked clean at a glance, but the bathroom had hair from previous guests and was disgusting. The rooftop view wasn’t special despite the photos, the game area had malfunctioning equipment, and several things in the room didn’t work properly. When we raised the problems with Shannon, one of the “top managers,” she was dismissive and unhelpful. She rudely said we should have reported them earlier, even though it was 2 am and we didn’t want to wake our children. Her lack of care and poor attitude were shocking and unprofessional. The location alone doesn’t make up for it. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
