The room was small but clean, with a comfortable bed, and breakfast was available in the morning. The owners are doing plenty of remodeling and seem to be moving in the right direction. It's a quiet, clean place, and I'd stay again. I needed somewhere for an unplanned weekend away, just the basics, and after finding lots of one-night prices over $150, I came across Core Creek Lodge. They had a room for the weekend at a very affordable rate, even with our dog. Gary, the owner, was polite and accommodating when I said we'd likely arrive after 10pm. His wife, whose name I can't remember, was waiting on the porch when we arrived around 11pm. We chatted for a few minutes before heading to the room. It can feel like you're far from town or the beach, but Beaufort is only a 10-15 minute drive away.

Core Creek Lodge is away from the hustle and bustle, with ground-floor rooms, reasonable rates, and friendly owners and guests. We feel safe there. A woman on her own could park right in front of the office and feel perfectly safe, too. The owner tries to place you in a room where you'll be comfortable, and is gracious and responsive if you need anything, always reachable by phone. They also share useful local information and restaurant recommendations. You can chat with people at breakfast or find a quiet place to yourself, which suits me when I want to get away as an introvert. There's lots of room to sit outside on the decks, benches, chairs, and grassy areas. It isn't top-of-the-line, but it works for us without costing a fortune. The renovations are making it more welcoming, and the little touches show they care: two great pillows per person, comfy beds, nice towels and shower curtains, and new outdoor mats. It's long been a good spot for the fishing crowd, but now it's more comfortable for any visitor.

The owner served breakfast every morning and chatted with guests. The hotel isn't new, but it's very well kept. Our room was clean and comfortable, the air conditioning worked great, and the pillows were especially comfortable. The pet fee was low, and Beaufort's beautiful Front St. is only about 7 or 8 miles away. My husband and I will definitely stay at Core Creek Lodge again.

Brandice Fair here. I loved how quiet and peaceful it was. The rooms were spotless, the bed was really comfortable, and I felt right at home. The owner was super friendly, and the free breakfast was good. Affordable, pet-friendly, and secluded. What more could you ask for? If you want a nice, quiet getaway, stay here.

There wasn't much room to sit, just the bed or two kitchen chairs, and the bed wasn't very comfortable. Still, the price was reasonable for a budget hotel, and our dog was welcome for a small extra fee. The owner was very friendly. We had reserved a budget room, but when we arrived, he said it had been quite hot in there and moved us to a one-bedroom apartment at no extra charge. It was spacious, with a nicely equipped kitchen and a table for two. The room was clean, and the WiFi was fast enough to stream a movie.
