Hilton Garden Inn Beaufort

The rooms were clean and spacious, and the breakfast buffet was surprisingly good for hotel food, with a nice range of choices. There's also a bar and kitchen. The front desk team, bar and kitchen staff at night, and breakfast crew were all friendly all weekend. The night auditor was the exception. We passed him a couple of times and he barely said anything. It's a great central place to stay.

The bar staff were friendly, which was the saving grace. We stayed for a week, and on the first day there was no breakfast. The next morning, breakfast staff shouted the price at us for an overpriced buffet. There was mold in the shower, and we could hear everything from the next room. For what it costs, we won't stay here on our next trip to Beaufort.

Army friends who hadn't seen each other in years had a great stay here, and everyone at this location was friendly and helpful. I especially want to thank Lakeisha for helping our family and friends have a smoother visit and for sorting out my refund. My husband and I had to cut our trip short after we got bad news that my mother-in-law was in the ICU, eight hours away in Tennessee. We had planned to stay Tuesday through Thursday, but left Wednesday after the burial. We'd come from Tennessee to South Carolina for an unexpected funeral, and I was greeted with kindness as soon as I walked in. Lakeisha made a difficult trip better.

I've stayed here around a dozen times for work over the past 18 months. The lobby has a strong natural gas smell, and the thin walls mean you can easily hear activity in the neighboring room. I've also had a frustrating electrical issue in multiple rooms: whenever I plug in my laptop, the TV loses signal, no matter which outlet I use. I reported it to maintenance over six months ago, but nothing changed. The hotel could use some investment and upgrades, especially with a couple of brand-new Hilton branded hotels opening a few miles away. There are good points too. It's set back from the main road and is quiet, with a good gym, friendly front desk staff, and a nice atmosphere at the lobby bar at night. Rooms are standard and no-frills. Starbucks is nearby, and Publix, Chipotle, and other shops are about a mile down the road; the waterfront isn't far either. The hotel is a block from a short-term rental complex. I've seen some unsavory characters on that block from my window, though I haven't had any safety issues. That's just my experience and opinion.
