Candlewood Suites Beaumont by IHG

I've been here for over a year, and it's been a fantastic stay. This is the cleanest, best maintained extended stay facility I've seen. Everyone around the hotel is friendly and helpful, from manager Juztin to the women at the front desk and the ones who maintain the rooms. This place is great!

The rooms were very clean, the hotel was quiet, and all the employees I met were pleasant. Ms. Shanna at the first desk was especially nice. The fully equipped kitchens made it feel like home away from home, and the free laundry room is a plus, too. I'll come back when I'm in the area.

The desk staff felt rude and hostile from the start, and the friendliness from my side did nothing to change the tone during check-in. The Wi-Fi was extremely poor, cutting in and out and mostly out while I was in the room. I paid for a one-bedroom suite with a sofa bed, and the IHG app picture for that room showed the sofa in its regular position. Instead, there was another ordinary bed where the sofa bed should have been. It was 80 degrees when I arrived. After three hours of blasting the AC, the main area was still 75, and the bedroom seemed just as hot because the cheap, inefficient setup barely directed air from the front room. The AC also blew a smell that could only be years of growing mold into the front room. The whole place smelled musty and gross, with a cigarette smell and burn marks on the floor. There was some unexplained substance on the bathroom floor. I had to sleep on the living room bed right beside the obnoxious AC, since the bedroom was still 80 degrees and nowhere I could sleep. I'll check out in the morning and go to the Avid across the street, where I know it's clean, well kept, and everything works properly. Stay somewhere else if you can.

The manager, Juztin, told me they were doing a lot of maintenance and that, because it was private property, they could enter rooms whenever they wanted. He said I could check out if I didn't like it, so I left. I travel for work and stay many nights at IHG hotels, and I can't describe how creepy it felt to have someone walk into my room while I was using the bathroom. His response was inconsiderate at best. I'm a big guy in my 30s, and I can't imagine how much worse that would have felt for a young woman. At 6:00pm I was naked on the toilet when someone knocked. I assumed it was a friend of another guest or a doordasher at the wrong room. Housekeeping had never come after check-in before, and I wasn't expecting anyone. I couldn't get up right away, so I thought whoever it was would leave. After another knock, I heard the door open. I got off the toilet just in time for the Hotel maintenance man to see me completely naked. He stood there awkwardly trying to explain himself while I was in the middle of the room, until I yelled at him to get out. If you stay here, deadbolt the door and use the safety catch. That's probably smart anywhere, but I'd consider one of the other hotels nearby. Edit: In his response to my review, the manager falsely accused me of inappropriate behavior in the hotel gym. I didn't use the gym during my stay. I was working onsite with a customer for most of the time, and I don't know where the accusation came from except a desire to save face. I did confront the manager and was upset, but calling my behavior inappropriate in shared spaces I never occupied is quite a tale.
