Steps to Beech Mountain Resort: Cozy Getaway

Beech Manor #7 worked well for our family and neighbors, six adults and one toddler, and we’d stay again and recommend it. It had four bedrooms, one on the first level, one on the main level, and two upstairs, plus two bathrooms, one on the main level and one upstairs. There was a fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, living room, dining area, and covered carport. The Beech Mountain ski resort was only a five minute walk away, which saved us a lot of time looking for parking.

We’re loving it here. Unit #8 is old but nice, huge, and very clean. It’s probably from the 70s or 80s, and besides carpet, furniture, appliances, windows, free wi-fi, and one wall-mounted 37" flat-screen with Dish TV and a VHS/DVD combo, it hasn’t been updated much. The master has the other of just two TVs, an older 26" tube model. It’s cute and quaint. This is one of two 4-BR units in the quadraplex and sleeps 10. There’s a ground floor room with twin beds, a main mid-floor master with a king, and two upstairs rooms with queens, just beyond a large loft with a foldout couch. The other two units have three bedrooms and sleep eight, without the extra downstairs bedroom. The kitchen was last updated years ago, but it’s well stocked with lots of fairly new accessories. All the rooms are relatively large, and the many windows bring in natural light and breezes. The mountain air is cool enough that there’s no need for AC, just heat in winter. There’s seating for seven in the living area, next to a dining table that expands to seat 10. The loft seats five, and each bedroom has a chair, most of them cushioned. Two full bathrooms are on the main floor, shared with the master, and third floor. You get to the third floor by a fun spiral staircase, and the high vaulted ceilings, at least in the upper two units, make the space feel even bigger. There’s an enclosed porch room but no outdoor balcony. Our unit had lots of puzzles and some games. The 4-BR units have one carport, while the 3-BR units have two, plus there’s more parking in the gravel driveway. One safety concern: the old railings likely don’t meet current code. The slats are 6.5" apart, and the gaps in the spiral staircase are 14.25". We had to get creative to make things safe for our 10-month-old grandchild, but that wasn’t too hard.

Quiet and mostly secluded, and the condo is clean and welcoming. We’d love to come back!

The views are spectacular all around, and they’re always accommodating. The Mexican restaurant downstairs is pretty good too.
