Yankee Clipper Motel

The bathroom was really clean, and having a washer and dryer on site was handy. I missed the first night because of a mess at Newark Airport, but the owner/manager stayed in touch with me and kindly held my reservation. The floor did need a proper sweep and mop, it was pretty dirty. Still, it was a nice place to stay and I’d recommend it.

The room was comfortable, and my granddaughter was relieved she didn’t have to drive all the way back to OOB, where she lives, then return to Stockton Springs after working on her feet all day at a wedding on French’s Point. She works for a catering service from Saco. She loved being able to come in and go straight to the shower. The young woman who checked me in was professional, friendly, and welcoming. Thank you for the lovely place. I’d definitely stay again.

The motel is close to the ocean, restaurants, and other places to visit. We were very pleased with the staff, especially the woman at the front desk, who was fantastic. Our room was spotless and comfortable. My daughter Sarah is having chemo in Belfast, and the trip is a long one for us. Since she has to return to the hospital for a shot the next day, we decided to stay overnight after chemo instead of making all that travel. I hope to get Sarah’s schedule next week so I can arrange one or two nights every 21 days.

I was told they’d probably be able to accommodate me, and that I’d get a refund for the missed night if I couldn’t make it up because my train was delayed and I wasn’t sure I could manage the drive. Based on that, I booked another hotel closer to the station. When I checked in the next day, the man told me to ask Expedia for the refund, but after Expedia contacted the motel, they refused it. The motel itself was fine, and I understand it was within their policy, but I’d been told they’d accommodate me. The bait and switch felt really dishonest, and now I’m paying for two nights because of the way this was handled.
