Hampton Inn Detroit/Belleville-Airport Area

The hotel was cleaner than other park, sleep, and fly places I’ve tried in a similar price range, but it’s farther from the airport than most. We were charged $10 per day for the car after seven days, a fee that wasn’t clear when booking. At check-in, we also found that all the next morning’s shuttles, at 3 a.m., 4 a.m., 5 a.m., and 6 a.m., were full or unavailable. An Uber cost us $65. I know the shuttles are complimentary, but that’s an expense I haven’t had to deal with at other hotels on previous trips. I called to ask whether the cost could be compensated and was told no. Be aware of those possible extra charges. Next time I’ll look at other options that may cost more up front but are closer to the airport and cheaper once everything is added up. For the total we paid, this stay wasn’t worth it.

Theresa was a big help getting the shuttle sorted out on a late, rainy night, and the staff made my travel setbacks much easier to handle. The room was clean and comfortable. To me, having kind, helpful people and a safe, clean place to rest is what hospitality means, so I’m giving this stay five stars.

The airport shuttle showed up on time, and the night itself went smoothly. The room was clean, everything worked, and the newer hotel has a pool and a nice exercise area. It’s far enough from DTW that aircraft noise wasn’t an issue. I’m less sure about the extra deposits. There was $50 for the room and another for parking. The clerk said they’d be refunded if we didn’t use anything, but there’s no restaurant or bar where we could charge things to the room, so I don’t understand why the extra money is needed. I’ll see how the refunds go. If it all works out, I might raise my rating a little.

I chose this place for airport parking, but missed the shuttle by a minute. It pulled away while I was paying, and the next one wasn’t due to leave for an hour, so I had to get an Uber instead. The desk staff were rude. Coming back, I waited 25 minutes for the airport pickup. I won’t park here again.
