Courtyard by Marriott Seattle Bellevue/Downtown

Terriana made our family stay over the winter holidays feel genuinely welcoming. She’s a supervisor at the Courtyard by Marriott Seattle Bellevue/Downtown, and was kind and professional. Thanks to her for going above and beyond and making the holiday visit smoother. The location is another big plus for a walkable stay in Bellevue. Bellevue Square is within .5 miles, and the hotel is close to the 405 freeway, downtown shopping and restaurants, the downtown light rail station, and Bellhop, the free ride service available through the Circuit app. I recommend this Courtyard Marriott for its service and location.

The room was clean and basic, though it looked aged. Housekeeping needs to pay more attention to detail, and there’s no luggage storage service, which was disappointing. Breakfast repeats the same options each day and isn’t worth the price. Nearby cafes offer better food and coffee for the same money. I’d suggest the F&B director try what’s being served, and visit different Marriotts outside the USA to see how poor the food tastes at Courtyard Marriott Seattle Bellevue. When I asked the front desk how to walk to Bellevue Square mall, the directions weren’t clear. A boutique two- or three-star hotel in Europe could explain it better.

This happened on my birthday weekend. We booked because the Capital One Travel site advertised a pool, but there was no pool on site when we arrived. We told reception, and got no apology or offer to contact Capital One, just that it wasn’t their fault. They said the pool had been gone for over a year, which makes it worse since they had plenty of time to update the listed amenities. I believe the hotel supplies Capital One with its details, and we’ll be contacting Capital One about this. At check-in, staff also told us Google Maps pictures showing a pool were outdated. They complained that they couldn’t do anything, but Google does allow requests to remove outdated pictures. Leaving them there misleads customers and feels highly unprofessional. It’s another example of how unhelpful the staff were when we raised a problem. This seems illegal under state and federal law.

I spent 17 nights at this Courtyard while relocating to Seattle, and it was one of my most unpleasant hotel stays. The hotel-wide heating failed in freezing weather, and I had to move rooms three times in one day. Room service was only offered every other day. On a day without it, I asked for two bottles of water, and the female manager visibly got angry and treated me like a burden instead of showing empathy. When the heaters were still down, I decided to check out early. The manager said she couldn’t refund the remaining nights because I’d booked through a third party. Things got tense, and her colleague had to step in and calm her down before the refund was processed. I believe she had lied at first just to make things difficult. After all those days, I didn’t feel valued. I felt like I had to walk on eggshells around a manager who doesn’t belong in hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend this location.
