Imperial Motel

The kitchens and bathrooms are consistently clean, and the rates are fair. Ask for an upstairs room. It can be a bit tricky to drive into this tucked-away spot, but it's worth it. I recommend this little motel to my out-of-town clients because it's welcoming and clean. Thanks, Imperial, for treating my clients and your own so well.

For $65 a night, I guess you get what you pay for. The kitchenette tile was dirty, the sheets had stains that looked permanent, and most surfaces could've used more cleaning. It was also about 100 degrees in the room when I arrived on a very hot day, since staff hadn't turned the AC on at all. It took around two hours to get the room barely tolerable, and the unit's dials were missing, so I needed pliers to operate it. It's a cheap hotel in a subpar area, but the price comes with those tradeoffs.

At least it was quiet. The room itself was really dirty: there were boogers on the walls, mold on the shower curtain, and old, crusty food in the microwave. The oven had moldy brats and garlic bread inside, and they smelled bad. The sheets were yellow-stained, the curtains had marks all over them, and cigarette butts were stuffed into the air conditioner vent.

The people who run this place are the nicest, and they go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. They even remember your name when you come back. It's become my go-to, with a clean, homey feel and very reasonable prices. Nothing fancy, just an easy place to recommend.
