Hampton Inn Beloit

I've stayed here many times when visiting family around Beloit, and it never disappoints. It's always clean and well maintained, the staff are polite and helpful, and there's plenty of coffee along with complimentary breakfast. My Valentine's Day overnight was another great stay.

The room was nice, I'll give them that. I was there as a guest at a birthday party, not the person who booked it. The front desk seemed oblivious: I asked where the pool was and then where entrance #2 was, and they didn't know either. It's a small hotel, so I found both myself. The pool area was extremely humid and smelled strongly of chlorine. Apparently the air exchange system doesn't work.

Rita at the front desk was fantastic when she checked us in. Our king room was spacious and very clean, with the tallest ceiling I've ever seen in a hotel. The breakfast buffet had a great range: omelets, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, fresh fruit, cereal, and waffles. The location was convenient, not far off the freeway, but still quiet. We were very happy with our stay.

The Wi-Fi being down made this stop pointless. I told the staff during check-in that I was stopping so I could watch the Packers game on Amazon and would need Wi-Fi. Once in my room, I found it wasn't working. The front desk said it had been down all day and wouldn't be fixed. My mother went down to ask whether it might be fixed, and was immediately told they could refund us so we could go elsewhere. That wasn't what she was asking. There was nobody at the front desk during checkout, so I left the keys on the counter. The lounge coffee was horrible, and the lounge was in disarray when I checked in, with overflowing trash. Staff were practically nonexistent and unhelpful. Keep driving a few exits and find somewhere better.
