Motel 6 Benbrook, TX - Fort Worth

A dead roach on the floor in our room was unpleasant. We also heard a lot through the walls: people yelling in the hall, getting off the elevator, and moving around in rooms above and beside ours. We were next to a very loud elevator, and the cleaning crew started talking loudly to each other and cleaning down the hall pretty early. The location was convenient for our destination, the hotel was easy to reach and in good shape, and the room was relatively clean with nice beds. The cleaning crew were very nice.

The rooms are small, but very clean for the price. I missed my reservation, and the woman at the counter quickly found me another room and honored the discounted reservation price, all with a smile. She was sweet, helpful, and friendly, and the service was great. I’d definitely stay again.

My wife booked a pet-friendly, non-smoking room, but somehow she was first assigned one that didn’t allow pets. They moved her to a pet-friendly room, but it smelled of smoke and had cigarette burns on the sheets and curtains. When she asked for fresh sheets, the cleaning lady complained. The replacements were stained and had other people’s hair on them. The booking company approved a refund without a charge, but the hotel still won’t issue it and has offered two different reasons. First, they claimed she’d occupied the room for 3 to 5 hours. She checked in at 3:15, called me about the room 20 minutes later, and I contacted the front desk right away. They said the manager wasn’t available. When I finally got that first explanation at 5:07, she’d been there less than 3 hours, so it didn’t hold up. The booking company then told me to ask the manager to approve the refund. When I called the front desk, they yelled at me for asking to speak with him. I eventually found corporate’s number and called. Corporate spoke to Motel 6, and the hotel’s next reason was that the rooms matched the booking. I told corporate my wife had sent photos of the burns on the sheets and curtains and said the room reeked of smoke. Corporate forwarded that information to Motel 6, but the hotel still hasn’t responded about whether they’ll approve the refund. I don’t recommend this hotel.

My home’s air conditioning broke, so I chose this Motel 6 because it was the closest available place. I usually avoid motels, and this stay reminded me why. Housekeeping staff walking around in swimwear felt inappropriate and unprofessional. There was a strong, constant marijuana smell inside and outside the building, and activity around the property seemed questionable. It left me concerned about the safety and quality of the place, and didn’t seem in line with what Benbrook neighborhood residents would expect from a local business. The room had a persistent musty smell, so I bought air freshener to make it bearable. The towels were stained and looked unclean, and the bedding had visible cigarette burns. Cleanliness and professionalism were seriously lacking. The front desk staff were rude and unfriendly too. Tough days happen, but disrespect toward guests isn’t acceptable in customer service. I’d advise people to avoid staying here unless they’re desperate. I hope management makes improvements for future guests and the surrounding community.
