Motel 6 Benson, AZ

I was there for a few days on the third floor. My room didn’t smell like smoke, which is a welcome change from many Motel 6 locations. The A/C and heater, both wall units, worked really well. There’s an ice machine on each floor and a decent enough laundry room on the second. The pool is gone, filled in with concrete and covered in artificial turf. The stairwells were poorly lit, and the second floor was messy enough that I had to move trash cans out of the hallway to get to the laundry. You can expect the usual sketchy guest behavior at a budget hotel. All in all, it wasn’t a bad stay.

A clean, safe, and friendly place to stay, and it’s very close to Kartchner Caverns. It’s a well-run base for a trip around southeastern Arizona.

I’ve stayed at plenty of Motel 6 locations, and this was one of the better ones. Even with a truck stop nearby, it was quiet and clean. The manager was attentive and put me in a back corner room on the third floor, which felt ideal as a woman traveling alone. The A/C and heater were quiet and worked perfectly. The water was hot with good pressure. Towels were clean but thin. There were the usual soaps and lotions, but no tissues. The room had a microwave and mini fridge, but no coffee maker. No continental breakfast either, though coffee was available in the lobby. Loves is right next door, with Subway and a pizza place inside. McDonald's and KFC are nearby. Tombstone, Bisbee, and Kartchner Caverns are all convenient to reach. It’s a good no-frills option.

I travel on I-10 pretty often and would happily come back if I pass through Benson again. The room was clean, safe, comfortable, and reasonably priced, with great Wi-Fi and A/C. The TV worked and was easy to use, and the staff were friendly. Morning coffee was pretty meager, but I only needed a place to stay, and at least they had some. It was just what I needed when I needed it.
