Comfort Suites Benton Harbor - St. Joseph

Dirty as hell. I had to switch rooms, and both were filthy. The sheets had holes and stains, and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned. There was nasty mildew in the shower and sink, and the hot tub was full of dirty foam. For almost 200 dollars a night, I expected better. Wouldn't recommend it.

We were charged $100, and when I questioned it, the man pointed to a sign saying it was effective 5/25. We'd stayed several times before and this had never happened. We booked through a third party and arrived to check in at 3:30 pm, but no one was at the desk. I pressed the buzzer hidden behind the desk sign, and when he came out, he gave us a dirty look. The first room was on the second floor, next to the laundry room, and we heard loud thumps overhead. We thought they were coming from the laundry room, but they weren't. We moved to a third floor room. On the way down the hall, we could hear kids running and jumping in a room. They should have been put on the first floor. In our third room, the sink spout was filthy, there was hair in the tub, and there was no garbage can. The shower wallpaper was peeling and the ceiling had water stains. The juice was warm and watered down. The owners live in rooms at the hotel too.

I checked in at Comfort Suites in Benton Harbor, Michigan, on August 23 for a wedding. We left for the wedding right away and got back around 9 that night. The room was in unacceptable condition: the shower and toilet area were poorly maintained and filthy, the toilet seat wasn't secure, the linens were dirty, and dust was everywhere. The couch also had visible stains. I brought all this up with the manager, Jay, when checking out and asked for a full refund. Since then I've received evasive replies, and Jay told Booking that I had never stayed there. I have photos and employee witnesses to confirm that I did. I plan to share the pictures publicly so people can see the conditions and poor management. I strongly advise against staying here. The cleanliness and customer service were seriously lacking.

Breakfast was average, but the bathroom by the pool ran out of toilet paper, which was especially bad for my son. When we first got to our room, there was garbage in plain sight, pee and hair on the toilet seat, and the room was unbearably hot because the AC hadn't been turned on. I asked for the room to be cleaned the next day. Someone came, but spent maybe seven minutes in the bathroom, and it was still gross. They skipped the part of the seat where it joins the frame. Another guest told me they had the same problems, so this doesn't seem like a one-off. I wouldn't stay here again.
