The room looked as described, which felt surprising beside the tired exterior. But getting there, and leaving the next morning, made for a very disappointing stay. I asked to see the room before committing since I had an early flight and was there only one night. The agent had to escort me, and we walked around the outside to reach the stairs. There was a strong marijuana smell on the way up, then wet carpet and cigarette smoke at the top. The property looked deserted and run down when I arrived, with poor lighting that made me feel unsafe. The lobby floor was flooded, and a maintenance worker was drinking something that looked alcoholic. At the desk, the polite agent seemed overwhelmed and frustrated. He said the elevator and key card machine were down, rooms were only available on floors 4, 5, and 6, and there were no accommodations for the trouble. He also had no manager available to consult. In the morning I found a notice telling guests to call to check out. I called seven times, got transferred to voicemail repeatedly, and couldn't reach anyone. The next day I spoke with Tia, the General Manager. She didn't sound genuinely apologetic and spoke matter-of-factly. She said she'd refund my stay, but I still haven't received it.

The rooms were cozy, nice, and comfortable, and I had a great stay apart from one staff member. The woman who's here in the morning is especially sweet and respectful, and another woman working there is really sweet too. Service otherwise was okay. They don't sell breakfast anymore, but that was fine with me since they had coffee, which I love. Thanks to Ms. Tia for helping me out in the end. She's one of the best employees there and deserves a raise.

We left before staying, after being given a downgraded room and then learning we'd been billed twice for the pet deposit. We had paid for the room in full through Booking.com, and also paid the pet deposit upfront. Staff member Anthony then said we needed to pay another deposit to keep our pet with us. By that point the red flags were piling up, so we left. The second pet deposit charge still hasn't been refunded, and we were also charged for a room we never used after being downgraded due to unavailability. We're disputing the incorrect billing through our credit card company, and management still hasn't replied after multiple attempts to reach them. The room we'd originally booked was filthy, with bedsheets on the floor and dirt everywhere. We asked for it to be cleaned or for another room, and got a different room that was below the package we'd bought. I recommend staying far away from this place. They are definitely on the up and up.

The hallways smelled strongly of smoke, and the staircase usually did too, though the rooms and lobby didn't. The elevator was out of order, and we got no room service at all during our four nights. Our room had a small fridge without a freezer, no microwave, and the lobby microwave wasn't clean. The gym was very minimal, though about what you'd expect from a hotel. It could be a good property, but it hasn't lived up to that potential. It was livable, but I wouldn't stay again or recommend it.

The hotel staff were sweet and kind, thank you. The room needs a more thorough check: keep the linens and shower curtain clean, and make sure the carpet isn't raised where a guest could trip. God bless you. #606
