Berlin Grande

The King Deluxe room was clean and comfortable, and the property is well kept. The staff were wonderful, and breakfast was a nice extra. We didn't use the pool, though it looked great. Highly recommend, and we'll certainly stay here again next time we're in Amish country.

We've been coming to Berlin since the 90s, and we live only an hour away. We've now had two bad experiences, so there won't be a third. We won't stay here again. At Christmas, we spent a week here and the King bed was ridiculously uncomfortable. We had to use extra blankets under us for cushioning. When we told the manager, he just said, “our guest love our beds.” There was no apology and no effort to make it right. We gave the place another chance this weekend, but ran into the same problem. This time we had Queen beds, which were a little better, but the AC unit made a horrible racket all night. The room was spacious, though there was only one chair, so it wasn't comfortable for more than one guest. Some staff are friendly and some aren't. Crystal, the front desk manager, seems to have an attitude. I booked through a third party because it was cheaper, at $187. The hotel put a $100 incidental charge on my card, which hadn't happened during our Christmas stay. My bank needed an invoice from Berlin Grande Hotel to release the charge. Crystal wouldn't help and argued they have always charged that fee. Well, they didn't at Christmas! You can't provide an invoice, but you can charge me $100 even though I booked through a third party! And the breakfast for $187.00: round, rubber-looking eggs, like they came out of my granddaughter's play kitchen. HORRIBLE!

The hotel was VERY clean, and Connie at the front desk was excellent both when I booked and when I checked in. The location is excellent too. My King room was massive, but felt like a waste of space. Put a hot tub in there! The bed was pretty cozy, and the kitchenette was nice and spacious.

The staff were amazing, especially Gwyn and Crystal, who helped me sort out some problems with my booking. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend staying here!
