I loved the wraparound balcony at 610 Dover House, with a lovely breeze and wide views from sunrise to sunset. Dover House is in a stellar beachfront spot, and the Sea Colony community seems well suited to a family wanting to take part in its activities. But I can’t recommend renting this three-bedroom unit until it gets a detailed overhaul. The owner should know it needs a better management company. The furnishings are worn: the living-room couch fabric is tired, the drapes hang loosely overhead, and there are broken chairs on the balcony. A wall sconce by the dining table flickers like a disco, and the microwave door has no handle. There were personal items scattered in the primary closet. At the end of our stay, I removed the linen service sheets and was horrified to see yellow stains on the bare mattress. The odd, off-center picture arrangement above the king bed adds to the impression of careless decor and maintenance. There’s tape holding the kitchen floor molding together, and the same black tape is securing the primary suite window’s roller shade. If the owner already knows about these problems, they should be embarrassed to treat tape as acceptable construction material.
