Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Bethel/Danbury

They have different room sizes, with double beds and suites, which I find especially useful on longer stays. The place is consistently clean and well run, and staff are attentive to requests and quick to respond. Even with other options around, I’d keep recommending it to people visiting for local events, work, exploring, or just a change of scenery.

I felt safe knowing you need a key to get into the building, and it was quiet and handy for the highway and major stores. During my five-day stay, housekeeping came by daily, made the bed, and left fresh towels. The bathroom handle needs replacing, and breakfast was disappointing. Apart from those issues, I had a wonderful stay.

I’ve spent more than 100 nights here while traveling for work on my own dime, and the nightly rate is about $80 less than what I’d pay at my usual Hilton. That savings really adds up. The rooms are clean, the bed and linens are soft, and the staff are friendly. Thanks, AJ, especially since I often arrive after midnight and someone is available all night. Breakfast and WiFi are free, parking is good, and there are several places to eat within walking distance. It’s right off I-84, too. For a Danbury stay, it’s the best value I’ve found.

We’d never tried a Microtel before and found it did what we wanted, a sufficient hotel stay for less than other places nearby. The Wyndham brand seems to help keep things running well at the lower price. My one suggestion is about the first-floor room we had, where people walking along the sidewalk about 20 feet away could see nearly all of the room. A sheer curtain would let in daylight while giving some privacy. The only option was a heavy blackout curtain, and with it closed the room got very dark. The lighting inside is already a little dim without natural light. That would be a useful addition and shouldn’t be beyond the hotel’s budget. Otherwise, everything was great.
