I routinely check the air vents in hotel rooms, and these were dirty. I cleaned them myself and called the front desk. A very nice staff member took off the AC cover, sprayed it with Fabuloso, wiped it down, and seemed to spray the filters before putting them back. They appeared sprayed rather than properly cleaned or replaced, which isn’t right for guest room air quality. I’m sensitive to strong scents, and the smell lingered all night, even after I’d been out of the room for several hours. I woke with an irritated throat and mouth. Prior smoking in the room may have made that worse, which is another reason filters should be properly cleaned or replaced between guests. Photos are attached. The microwave vent was broken, and there was a lot of dirt and dust under the microwave that could fall into food being heated. The toilet also wouldn’t flush properly because the tank didn’t refill. I reported the vent, but was too exhausted by all the problems to report the toilet right away. I had to remove the tank lid and manage it myself. Photos are attached. The hotel also made and kept a copy of my driver’s license, which felt insecure and like a serious identity theft risk. At checkout, staff were very adamant about not returning it. I said I didn’t want my personal ID information left on file, and only after an employee called her manager did I get the copy back. The worst part was the fire alarms. They went off frequently, and I had to evacuate after midnight on two of my first three nights. The first time, I’m confident guests smoking caused it because the hallway smelled strongly like skunk. The same issue likely caused the second alarm, and this had also happened on a previous stay. Being evacuated in the middle of the night three times over two stays is unacceptable. It wastes emergency resources and puts lives at risk. The front desk showed little concern about the disruption. The day before checkout, I called to speak with the manager and was told she was out. The next morning, I asked if an extra night could be comped because the alarms had woken me twice in my first three nights. The manager refused and blamed the alarms on guests who “do not know how to cook.” She repeatedly wouldn’t give me corporate contact information, told me several times to find it online, then hung up. Calls afterward from both my room and personal phone were disconnected or unanswered. A manager who can’t communicate properly with guests shouldn’t be a manager. Who hangs up on a guest? It’s kind of comical to get the generic reply. If they cared about my stay, they’d have me leaving as a happy customer, and that didn’t happen here. The manager said, “You left us a bad review.” I said, “I left a review… and I also will be updating it.” So here’s the update. Hope you like it. Treat guests with respect. Don’t hang up because you lack social skills. Learn some. Be better. Do better. This manager shouldn’t be working with the public. I’ll never stay here again. Pay extra and go somewhere you can actually sleep.

The second room was no better, though it was called a “QA” room. The sheets were stained again, the toilet wouldn’t flush, there was no toilet paper, and the fridge shelves were covered with some mysterious sticky substance. On the way there, we saw another cockroach on the hallway wall. In the first room, 327, there was a giant cockroach on the wall, a terrible smell from the fridge, and black dots and stains on the bedding. The man at the front desk was kind and apologized when my friend and I went back, and gave us room 433 instead. It was around 12/1 AM, and after driving for 9 hours we were too exhausted to pack up and drive somewhere else. We asked for clean sheets and tried to make the best of it. I woke up feeling itchy and disgusted. I wanted you to know what conditions guests are staying in, and hope this keeps future guests from wanting to shower with bleach and burn their clothes.

The location is the only good thing about this hotel. After a bad experience at another local Woodspring hotel earlier that day, where the elevator didn’t work and someone with me couldn’t manage stairs, I came here as a last-minute option. I regret it. I asked to use the lobby bathroom before checking in and was told no. Then they gave me keys to a room that was already occupied, and the front desk seemed bothered when I came back to get it sorted out. There were roaches in the hallway, and the room was filthy, poorly cleaned, and had obvious leak damage on the ceiling. Even for a budget hotel, it’s not worth it. I’ve stayed at several Choice hotels, and this Woodspring brand is the worst I’ve encountered. Looking at previous reviews, it seems they’ve had these problems for a long time. I should’ve read them before booking. That part’s on me.

The room was dirty, as other guests have said, and the front desk customer service was nonexistent. I’m unsure whether this place is corporate-owned or run by an individual franchisee, but whoever runs it should be ashamed. I use a mobility scooter and have serious trouble standing, so I booked a room advertised as having a handicap walk-in shower. At check-in they denied me that room, saying those are only for long-term stays. Why show it as available online and let me book it? That feels like false advertising, and I may look into legal action. This is a non-refundable, non-cancelable hotel. The website doesn’t mention that until after you book and pay, when it appears in red letters. After seeing the place, I understand why they have that policy: I would have changed hotels after one night, and they know it. The room is advertised for long-term stays with a refrigerator and stove, which it does have, but there are no plates, utensils, mugs, glasses, or anything else. Wi-Fi is free at slow speed, but faster service costs $9.99 per week. I thought nickel-and-diming guests for things like this was over, but not here. The website says pets cost $50 to register and $10 per day, but on site I was told $55 and $11. I wonder if it’s legal for the website to say one thing and then charge something different. I may look into that too. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!!!!!!

It looked great online, but the place turned out to be a dump. The room was gross and clearly hadn’t been cleaned well, like the cleaning staff had been rushed. I didn’t want to touch the surfaces. My husband killed at least five cockroaches over the weekend. Things were falling apart, including a little closet thing in the corner that came completely off. Luckily, nobody got hurt. Kids were banging around noisily at all hours, making it hard for other people to sleep, and the staff were incredibly rude the whole time. Every time I got towels, they were stained. This place was a huge disappointment. Don’t bother booking unless you’re fine living with filth and cockroaches.
