The West Hollywood EDITION

Even with the hotel busy for the Grammys that weekend, it still felt peaceful, comfortable, and serene. It was like paradise, and I can't recommend it enough. I'd seen mixed reviews and wanted to try the Edition in LA on my latest trip because I love Edition brands. The hotel really is modern and beautiful, with so much attention to detail. Once you arrive, all you can do is admire it. It's one of the most stunning properties in this country, and the hospitality was excellent throughout. Can't wait to return on my next LA visit!

My one-bedroom villa was jaw-dropping, spacious, beautifully designed, and perfect for a birthday staycation. The wraparound balcony, big living room, and unbelievable amount of closet space made it feel more like a luxury home than a hotel room. The huge bathroom had a deep bathtub and the sleek, modern style Edition is known for. I stayed at The West Hollywood Edition for one night to celebrate my birthday, and everything felt exceptional from start to finish. With the holidays coming up, drinking hot chocolate and watching a movie made me feel completely at home. I genuinely have nothing negative to say. The property is stunning, the service is flawless, and the staff made my birthday feel incredibly special. From valet onward, things were seamless: warm smiles, helpful service, and the kind of hospitality that reminded me why I love Edition properties and being a Marriott Bonvoy member. I arrived at a beautifully prepared villa with balloons and flowers, and every detail had been handled effortlessly. Earnest, the manager, helped book my accommodation and supported me throughout. I also loved the text-based guest relations service. The team messaged as soon as we checked in, and they were just a text away whenever I needed anything. Charlie, Danny, and Ruben helped with extra waters and other little requests. I wish all hotels offered this. I brought my small service animal, and the team went out of their way to provide a dog bed and bowls, which made the stay truly pet-friendly. I'm grateful to everyone who made it so lovely.

The rooftop was a really bad experience. The food tasted good and the drinks were good, but so much went wrong. We asked to leave a particular ingredient off our food because someone at the table has severe intolerance, and they added it to 4/8 dishes anyway. The staff had serious attitude issues. I wonder if the automatically included gratuity leads to less effort and hospitality, because the service was painfully bad. Noa and Nikolina were incredible, though. The A/C was also extremely weak, and if you need a cold room to sleep, I'd avoid this place. We stayed because the engineers were trying to fix it, but they couldn't. Front desk service was mediocre, okayish, and not what you'd expect from a 5-star hotel. We only stayed because Lisa, the Guest Services manager, was outstanding at her job and gave the kind of 5-star service you'd get somewhere like Waldorf Astoria.

If you're looking to party all night, this could be the place for you. For sleep, relaxation, or any peace and quiet, I'd look elsewhere. The West Hollywood EDITION markets itself as high-end, serene, and exclusive, but the noise is outrageous. Bass from the hotel's own nightclub and nonstop chaos from Sunset Strip made it hard to imagine anyone getting sleep. The walls and windows seemed about as soundproof as a tent, and the bass rattled the bed frame while the windows vibrated. For a property charging luxury-level rates, I'd expect basic soundproofing. Instead, it felt like a DJ was performing in my closet until 2 a.m. This is no budget hotel, yet it felt less like a premium stay and more like a front-row seat to a nightclub I never asked to attend. Paying premium prices shouldn't mean needing earplugs as part of turndown service.
