The staff are nice, and the rooms are clean and good for the price. I stayed three different times while my dad was in VA, where he sadly died after a few weeks. I get the economics of continental breakfast, but the choices were all high in sugar except apples. Why not offer cheap generic Cheerios instead of Frosted Flakes and sugary loops? People could add sugar if they wanted. There were honey buns, sweet oatmeal cookies, and waffles with only high-sugar syrup. No bagels, wheat toast, or peanut butter.

The water pressure is absurdly low, and the WiFi is worse than my phone hotspot. Housekeepers wear no uniforms, so you can’t tell if someone entering your room is staff or a random person. The location is really only convenient for refinery workers. I could’ve overlooked the hotel, but the manager was rude and unprofessional when my family and I arrived. Customer service was horrible. Spend the extra money and go somewhere better.

During a snowstorm with temperatures near zero and 35 mph winds, the room was freezing. The thermostat was set to 65 when we arrived, and even turning it up to 86 never warmed the place. Cold air blew through gaps in the unsealed door and frame, and I could see through them. I had to sleep in my cold-weather gear. It was a typical Super8, with staff seeming interested only in checking us in.

We just needed somewhere to crash for one night on a trip, and the man at the desk was very kind. From what he said, I presume he’s the new owner. Our ground-floor room was nice and quiet. It was clean, though the blankets and bathtub showed a little wear, nowhere near dirty or unkempt. The breakfast area was nice, and the owner mentioned plans to add more options like bagels. A good place to stop for the night. If I pass through again, I’ll stay here.

We booked several rooms. I was told I’d get my deposit back for my room, but it never came. For the second room, the manager personally inspected it and denied the deposit over what he called a small drop of oil and a mustard stain on a towel. Save yourself time and money and book at Plaza Inn next door. I’d give no stars if I could.
