Swan River Inn

The Tuscany room was spacious and beautiful, with a great kitchen for cooking and plenty of room to gather with family. I loved the bar and dining area, too, and had one of the best tasting mocktails I've ever had at a great price. The vibe is neat, and the location at the end of downtown Bigfork can't be beat.

Dinner at the Inn brought my wife and me back to more than 30 years ago. From the atmosphere and food to sitting down with the original owners, the whole experience was wonderful. If you haven't been to the Swan River Inn, we highly encourage you to try it. It's a monumental part of downtown Bigfork, and I'm glad to see some of it coming back to life in our community.

This was my third summer stay, and the Tuscan Suite is easily my favorite so far. The pictures online don't do it justice. It's a one of a kind place with lovely views, high ceilings, and a back porch with a table and chairs where a pet can lounge. The suite was clean, as it has been on my previous visits over the past few years, and my daughter and I are very picky about that. The front door opens right onto the main sidewalk, with parking conveniently close. There was lots of space for my husband and me in the master suite, our daughter, son in law, and grandchildren in the second room, and my 21 year old daughter on the living room futon. I used the gorgeous copper tub, too. Big Fork is one of our favorite places, with Flathead Lake, Kalispell, and good restaurants close by. We'll definitely return!

I had a confirmed Booking.com reservation made well ahead of time for a quiet weekend in Bigfork, but when I arrived at the Swan River Inn, they said a walk-in guest had taken my room. I wasn't late or a no-show, and I had proof of the booking. It seemed they gave the room to someone who might have paid more. No apology or help, just a shrug and “sorry, you’re out of luck.” I've stayed in dozens of hotels around the country and never had an experience this shady. If you value your time, plans, or basic decency, don't book here. They don't respect confirmed reservations and will throw you under the bus for a quick buck.
