La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Billings

After a bad experience at another hotel, I stayed here a year ago and was so glad we found it. The staff are amazing, rooms spotless, and breakfast has lots of choices. I asked for a cot, and it was already in the room when I arrived. The pool area is wonderful, with a fun slide for kids, a kiddie pool, and comfortably warm water. It’s a quick drive to the city college and the zoo, with lots of fun on this side of town. From now on, this is the only place I’ll stay in Billings. So thankful we found it.

After a long seven-hour drive, I stopped here for the night without a reservation. The woman at the desk found us a room quickly and made check-in easy. The room and bathroom were clean, and the beds were comfortable with full, soft pillows. A few cosmetic details could use work, but nothing I’d complain about. Breakfast was hot and delicious, and the area was clean too. Checkout was simple, and the older gentleman at the desk that morning was pleasant.

It’s a nice hotel, and most of the staff were really friendly. But getting the temperature control to work was far more complicated than choosing heat or cool and setting a temperature. Apparently, I had to ask an expert or technician to come to the room just to turn it on. Maybe if you ask them to make sure the A/C works before check-in, you’ll be comfortable, and the staff won’t gaslight you for expecting the unit to run after setting the temperature. The wireless router is right beside the bed, so its lights are lovely if you like staring at them while trying to sleep. If you want easy temperature control and no lights in your face, maybe sleep in your car or a tent. At least either would have working temperature control. In their reply, they mentioned the heat but didn’t address my concern about the A/C. I hope the staff learn the difference between air conditioning, which cools, and a heater.

We ended up here for two nights because a windstorm kept us off the highways south, and I’m glad we picked this hotel. The King suite had a comfortable bed, a good desk for working, and a living room area where I could relax. It was quiet, everything was clean, and it made a nice place to rest before continuing to Texas. I also had my dog with me, and there was lots of green space around the hotel to walk her and let her out.
