Fairfield Inn & Suites By Marriott Birmingham Downtown

I’d been traveling since 4am and needed a quiet place to sleep, but I could hear the neighboring guest through the shared-room door as if they were in my room. Around 4pm, I asked to switch rooms and was told housekeeping had left for the day and there were no rooms available. I don’t see what housekeeping had to do with moving me, and it’s hard to believe there were no other rooms on a Tuesday night. I ended up finding another hotel. They offered neither quiet rooms nor good customer service.

We had a wonderful stay for our work trip, and the location was perfect. The rooms were clean, too. Big thanks to our valets, ANTONIO and JEMERIAH. They greeted us with smiles, kept a positive attitude, and were attentive whenever we saw them. We’ll be back!

There’s a lot to like here: the hotel is beautiful, the rooms are nice, the showers are walk-in, the lobby is spacious with plenty of seats, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Downtown also has lots to do, with places to eat, walk, and explore. I’d stay again, but I’ll bring my own pillows and skip breakfast. I had two awful nights of sleep. The beds are too soft for me, and the pillows were the worst I’ve encountered. I’m a big guy and sink into soft beds. Those pillows seemed to deflate as soon as I lay on them, and there should be more of them. The breakfast was probably the worst I’ve had, with greasy food and poor egg choices covered in cheese. Parking was another frustration: street spaces are hard to find and only free on weekends, while valet or very expensive garages are rough options. Parking is a hassle downtown in general, but it still got to me. No full-length mirror was another downside.

Dylan was looking after the valet service during my wedding weekend and took great care of me. He found me a great parking spot and showed real professionalism, hard work, and determination. I really appreciate the service he gave me at such an important time.
