Holiday Inn Birmingham-Airport by IHG

There was no hot water for the shower at all. The elevators were also overdue for inspection. When we tried taking the stairs to the second floor, there were no door handles on the inside, and we nearly got trapped. There wasn't even proper signage. We called ahead to ask whether the pool was open, and whoever answered told us it was, but that wasn't true. Most hotels include breakfast, but this one charges $15 for it. It was not a pleasant stay.

The suite layout was spacious, practical, and comfortable, just what we've come to expect from this brand. The continental breakfast was excellent, too. We didn't get a chance to use the other facilities during our stay. We booked a one-bedroom suite with two bathrooms at the Holiday Inn in Birmingham. The mattresses on both the sofa bed and the main bed felt noticeably lower quality than at similar hotels, and below what we'd expect from this chain. Better mattresses would make a real difference. Overall, a solid stay, with room for better sleep comfort.

Danielle was really sweet and nice, probably the best part of the hotel. The bathroom was nasty, with a ring around the toilet like it hadn't been cleaned, and there was hair in my bed. We booked two queen beds but only got two towels, one clean rag, and one dirty rag. Usually there are four of each. We'll see how breakfast goes, and our kids are spaced out together lol.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but we arrived at 8:30 p.m. expecting to eat at the hotel restaurant, which was meant to close at 10. It was already shut. Breakfast was supposed to start at 6:30 a.m., but at 6:40 the lights were still off and setup wasn't finished. I had to ask for coffee, and they only had decaf. There was no juice, just hot and cold water. If we stay again before an early flight, I won't pay extra for breakfast.
