It's a convenient spot if you need to be near the airport, but that was the only upside for me. I stayed three days last week, and the neighborhood felt scary. The toilet and refrigerator both leaked, the elevator worked poorly, and its certificate was outdated. We were on the second floor, got in to go down to the first, but it took us to the first floor. There was fresh blood by the elevator that hadn't been there the first night. Staff were mostly unfriendly and lazy, acting like guests were a bother. One woman stayed glued to her phone while I spoke with her. The only good employee was the young Indian woman working late afternoon, who was courteous and friendly. The free breakfast was one to skip: reusable plastic silverware they wash and use again, tiny pancakes that looked shrunk, and it didn't start until almost 7 even though breakfast was listed as 6:30 to 9. The tissue was thin dollar-store stuff in a clear and black wrapper, and it was gone after three uses. Worst hotel experience I've had. If you're thinking of the Ramada by Birmingham Airport, stay away.

Simone at the front desk was warm and friendly, and the room was clean. The shower got hot, and breakfast was decent, with fresh scrambled eggs, cereal, bagels, bananas, and more. I only missed out on five stars because the hard floor felt chilly under bare feet. A rug by the bed might help. The vending machines only took cash, so I had to run to a gas station in the morning for a couple of Cokes.

The best thing here is being close to the airport. The room was awful, with ripped sheets covered in brown stains and a bathroom door that looked kicked in. After two days at the hospital with little sleep, I needed rest, but there was a party going all night. At check-in, we were told breakfast was complimentary, then the woman at the desk said the next morning there was no breakfast and gave no explanation. When we complained and asked to check out early, they offered a full refund but said there wasn't enough cash on site. The desk clerk asked the manager for help, but he wouldn't discuss refunding that night and walked out throwing his hands up in disgust. Wyndham, if you care about your brand, remove it from this property. The rooms, service, and management were trash.

I asked for a receipt at checkout, but they couldn't provide one or tell me how much the bill was. The elevator jerked, and its buttons didn't light up. Inside the room, the bed had dangerous metal pieces sticking out, light bulbs were burned out, the sink stopper didn't work, and there was no bathroom exhaust fan. They supplied one tiny roll of toilet paper, no tissues, no ice bucket, and no phone to call the front desk. The mini fridge was empty and there was no bottled water. Cable TV barely worked, with one local station and no news, and the desk staff didn't know how to operate it. The ad claimed there was a restaurant and bar, but there was neither. I arrived around 9:45 PM after a long day, couldn't get a glass of wine or food, and had to drive out for a bottle. A local restaurant delivered chicken with only a fork, no knife. This hotel was so bad I'd give it zero stars if I could. Do not stay here.

The rooms were in poor shape, and cleanliness was a real problem for my family and me. There was hair everywhere and spots on the sheets, and we had to go get our own fresh towels and toiletries because housekeeping was basically nowhere to be found. When I tried to get help with the room, the manager was never available. We asked for our concerns to be addressed or for some money back, but the manager refused a refund. We were in Birmingham for a short family vacation and left completely disappointed. I don’t usually review my hotel stays, but this one made me feel I had to. The hotel is close to everything, but the online pictures are misleading. I’d tell people to avoid it and check a hotel carefully before booking online. Lesson learned. Don’t waste your money. I hope this helps someone else.
