Vagabond Inn Bishop

The bed was at least comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The curtains were so thin you could see outside, though, and we had a cockroach visit us at night.

We were glad to find a room here at the last minute, just four days before New Year’s, with new snow in mammoth and nowhere else available. The place seemed well kept, and the rooms were clean, with what looked like new showers and restrooms. I did find one strand of hair on a bedsheet the first night, so that was a question mark. Housekeeping came in on the second day, which we hadn’t expected but appreciated. Breakfast was standard and had bagels, French toast, waffle muffins, fruit, and cereal, but no meat or eggs. Juice, fruit, and coffee were in the lobby. They also offer 10% off at denny's and the pizza place next door. There was a fridge and mini fridge, plus soap and shampoo. Pretty satisfied.

I was disappointed that they wouldn’t move my stay or offer a credit. My one-night booking was for Dec 28, but road conditions forced us to postpone. I sent a cancellation or credit request through Booking.com the night before and got no reply. Once the roads improved two days later, I called to shift the booking to Dec 31. They said they were full and refused a date change, refund, or credit, even though their website showed rooms available and let me book online. I understand the reservation could be non-refundable, but not getting a response and having no flexibility about changing dates was frustrating.

The rooms were roomy, with AC and heat that worked great, and the TV had lots of options through direct TV. WiFi was satisfactory. Breakfast was just okay: grains, breads, and fruit, no eggs or meat. The orange and apple juice were good, and the muffins were all right. I’d stay again when I’m in bishop.
