For the price, this is a great hotel, and I'd recommend it to people visiting Bismarck. There's a lot nearby to eat, including Starbucks, Hardee's, Subway, and Dairy Queen. Go a little farther on foot or by car and you can get to Arby's and Olive Garden. The state Capitol and state museum are both within a 20-minute walk. Locals mentioned a bus system that doesn't show on Google Maps, though I didn't try it; rideshare is available around here. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise for a Super 8: along with cereal and toast, there were eggs and pork sausages. The only other Super 8 I've visited with those hot items was in Bozeman, MT. My room was a 1 Queen Bed, Non-smoking room, and I stayed two nights. It had the usual coffee machine, mini fridge, microwave, work desk, and TV. The bed was comfortable and the shower had steady hot water. Sound carries badly through the walls and doors. I could hear a neighbor's phone calls and people chatting in other rooms on the same floor. Also, the lobby shown in the photos isn't there. The spot with sofas in the pictures has been turned into a "tuck shop" where the front desk sells food and drinks.

The parking lot was disgusting, with stuff everywhere. I asked the woman at the desk whether I could leave my moving truck there. She barely spoke English and couldn't understand me at first, but eventually we sorted out that I could park it. While checking in, I asked if she had my dog noted, and she nodded yes. A few minutes after I took my son and dog upstairs, she called to say pets cost extra. I said I knew and had told her about the dog, but she hung up. When I went back down, she denied I'd mentioned it, even though I told her to check the cameras. She charged me for the dog, and we carried on. There's no elevator, so you have to haul all your things upstairs. The floors creak, the place smells, the front desk service is awful, and the remote didn't work. We only stayed because we needed somewhere that would take our dog that night. Otherwise, I would've driven farther and gone somewhere else. Skip this hotel.

A big thumbs up to the kind staff for working with us on the room payment while we're homeless. The TV could use more channels, but that's cool. We did have one bad experience, though I can't blame them for what happened.

Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast came with hot eggs and sausage as well as cold cereal, and the new refrigerator kept our food and drinks cold.

If you're a travel nurse or work night shifts at St Axelius or Sanford, ask when housekeeping plans to vacuum, either around 10 am or 4pm. It depends on who's working. Someone there insists the maids vacuum around 12 noon- 230pm, which keeps interrupting sleep for people working nights. I worked several 12 hour night shifts and got only 2 hrs of sleep because the vacuuming kept starting and stopping during the day. I told them, but only 1 or 2 people at the front desk seemed to care that the noise was waking two people. The others didn't seem bothered. Even when I explained I had 12 hour shifts, they'd vacuum off and on. I overheard someone in the hall saying it's the maids' job to vacuum when told. I don't understand why they can't do it around 10 in the morning or later around 4 in the afternoon. If they offer rooms to travel nurses and other night workers, they should take this into account before you stay. The room itself was comfortable, service was nice, and laundry was available. Breakfast was minimal, with cereal and milk, muffins, juice, tea, and coffee.
