Best Value Inn

We've been coming to Bloomington for college weekends for four years and have tried lots of hotels. We normally wouldn't choose a motel, but after staying at so many familiar big-name places, we found The Best Value Inn to be the cleanest of them all. It's conveniently close to campus, and I'd highly recommend it!

We stayed Thursday, Oct. 26 through Saturday, Oct. 28. After leaving for our event on Friday, we came back to find someone had gone through our things. At first we didn't think much of it, but on Saturday morning some clothes were missing, including new jeans with the tags still on and a new shirt. Once I got home, I called the Manager. He said his staff wouldn't do that, though I told him I was 100% sure it had happened. He said he'd check the security tapes and get back to me. I never heard from him. He didn't seem to care, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The desk clerk was courteous and friendly, but the room was not clean and the sink faucet handle kept falling off because it wasn't attached properly. I was there with two adult family members, yet the double room had only two towels, two hand towels, and two washcloths. The manager told me straight out that there were only two of each, and that was all. Management was unbelievably rude. Very disappointing, dirty, skanky motel. It isn't worth even the low rate, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The owner was friendly, professional, and very accommodating. Our room had been renovated, so some of the new things gave it a clean look at first. The heat and air worked well, the shower was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the stadium is within walking distance. That clean feeling didn't last. I found what I researched as German roaches around the vanity, behind the mirror, and in the bathroom. The mattress pad was heavily stained and clearly not new, right up there with the roaches as my biggest complaint. The lighting was harsh, cold white light from the ceiling only. Maybe that's to prevent lamp theft, but it made the room feel industrial. The old window curtain had spackle on it, though maybe it hasn't been updated yet. There were screws in the parking lot. Since the place is being renovated, my husband thought to look, and we found three near our area that could have punctured a tire. It was over $300 a night during homecoming weekend, which is way too much for a motel room. I also saw free breakfast listed online, but it wasn't free, so that information needs updating. Check under the sheets if you stay here.
