Alpine Village Inn

The rooms are nicely furnished, the beds are really comfortable, and the location is hard to beat, just a two-minute walk from downtown. I’ve been back several times over the past few years. I often travel with one very large dog, sometimes two, and the staff have always been accommodating. I’ll put this place at the top of my list next time I’m in Blowing Rock.

After years of staying at the historic Green Park Inn, which was demolished, and then at Cliff Dwellers, we tried Alpine Village Inn this weekend. We should have come sooner. Friday’s awful traffic had us ready for a mountain hideaway, and this felt like just the place. Our sunny yellow room was clean and had a lovely retro-chic look. It felt more like a guest house than a motel. The fireplace was essential for our February weekend with temperatures around 40 degrees or lower, and it was just right for warming up. Being right in the village also meant we could leave the car parked and enjoy a few days feeling like locals. After six years of traditions, finding a new favorite wasn’t easy, but this one has taken the top spot.

I’ve stayed here several times over the past few years, and the place is always extremely clean. The owners are kind, and I’ve enjoyed talking with them. This past weekend I arrived late, but they’d left a key out for us. When we checked out, they thanked us for staying. It’s quiet and an easy walk from good restaurants and shops. I love this hotel and this city.

The gazebo is a favorite of ours for sitting outside in the evening with a drink and enjoying the weather. We’ve stayed here more than 10 times over the past few years. Great service, a dog-friendly setup, and a terrific location keep bringing us back to Blowing Rock.
