Arrowhead Tree Top Lodge

The location is decent, and the employees seem to work hard, but the motel itself was awful. Our room was very hot in July because the window AC barely worked. The low-wattage bulbs made it dark, and the bedside lamp was only decorative because its plug had been cut. There was no soap at the sink or in the shower, and no hand towel or towel by the shower door. With water on the tile, that seemed like a slipping risk. The curtains were pieced together from three separate cloth panels and didn't give privacy. The WiFi was effectively nonexistent. A guest in the room closest to the main office said you might get a connection outside near the desk. When we left, an electrical cord from the owner's unit near the main panel ran across the whole parking lot and into a hole in that unit's wall. It looked like a motel unit had lost power.

We were here for work, and it was the only lodging available nearby. The room was a Queen even though our work booking said King Deluxe, which we only caught on the last day. The shower was broken, so we couldn't shower for the past few days, and maid service never came despite our leaving the sign out every day. There was black mold on the wall, rat droppings in the bathroom, and a lamp coming loose from the wall. The place felt unsafe too. The porch looked close to collapsing, our doorknob was wobbling off its handles, and the top chain lock was broken. There's also an interior door to the adjoining room with the same kind of lock as the front door, and apparently any key will open either lock if you barely insert it. Horrible place. Don't spend your money here.

It cost us $200 for one night, and it really wasn't worth it. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned when we arrived, so I asked for housekeeping. The broken door frame and glass were covered with tape. The kitchen and table were filthy too. We had our seven-month-old baby with us, and honestly, if the weather had been warm, we'd have slept in the car.

Six nights here were ruined by repeated arguments upstairs, where an office staff member was staying directly above us with her boyfriend and children. There was shouting day and night, and breaking glass. It sounded so bad that I worried they might kill each other. Since she was part of the office staff, I didn't feel comfortable asking the office for help. I was even afraid the couple might come after my family if they learned I'd called the police. We left two days early. I emailed the office staff about what happened and never heard back. I'm deeply disappointed, and can't get those six nights back. I wouldn't recommend staying here while that staff member is still on the property. I don't know her name.
