The beds were comfortable, and I loved the homemade breakfast. Staff were kind and very accommodating about dietary needs. They went out of their way to make us a vegetarian/vegan option and also had gluten-free choices. I appreciated their efforts to be sustainable and cut down on single-use plastic. The Wi-Fi was the only downside: it was slow and unreliable, though that seems more related to the area than to the hotel. I was attending a virtual Zoom conference in the morning, and the connection kept getting spotty and dropping. The stay itself was comfortable and trouble-free, and I’d come back on another trip to the area.

It’s a very quiet town, and I loved the breakfast. I also saw hummingbirds and dragonflies for the first time in a long while. The rooms are spacious, though I noticed some bugs here and there as I was leaving. I like that management is trying to be sustainable.

The setting at La Posada Pintada in Bluff, Utah is stunning, with huge boulders behind it. The courtyard feels homey, with hammocks, a gazebo, and lots of hummingbird feeders that the birds visit often. We loved our stay and highly recommend it for a trip to Bluff and the surrounding area. Our room and bathroom were unexpectedly large and comfortable, with a coffee maker, refrigerator, in-room ice maker, comfy beds, and little chocolates. The pretty bathroom tiles and pedestal sink, big shower, and lovely-smelling soaps made it feel luxurious. Breakfast each morning was homemade and a feast for the senses: hot dishes such as eggs, bread pudding, herbed home fries with sweet and white potatoes, homemade yogurt, sausage or bacon, fresh-baked bread and muffins, granola, several teas and honey, coffee, fresh fruit, and different oatmeal flavors. The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating, with suggestions for things to do nearby. The price was quite reasonable. We’d stay at La Posada Pintada again if we’re ever back that way. It was a wonderful experience.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the Wi-Fi only needed an occasional reconnect, which seems understandable in such a remote area. At check-in, they asked about food allergies and preferences. When we said we were vegan, they had oat milk ready the next morning and made us a delicious quinoa dish. It felt like five-star service for a two-star price. I’d give the place more than five stars if I could, and we’d stay again on our next visit to southeast Utah.

The cabin was in a quiet neighborhood down the street from the hotel. It had a full bathroom, kitchen, dining area, living room, bedroom, porch, and a full front and back yard. There’s a pretty view of sandstone formations behind it. The decor was cute, with a historical feel and western, pioneer, and native touches. I didn’t sleep well because the mattress was uncomfortable, and there’s no air conditioning in the bedroom, only the living room. For airflow, you need to leave the screened windows open and use the tabletop fan. It wasn’t too bad with nighttime temperatures around 60 degrees, but I don’t like sleeping with the windows open, so next time I think I’d choose the hotel.
