Candlewood Suites Bluffton-Hilton Head by IHG

The damp, bad-smelling room gave us all terrible headaches within ten minutes, so we left. To their credit, they refunded us without a problem. Even before we reached the elevator, we were hit by a smell like dog piss and cheap carpet shampoo. Everything in the room felt damp. Stay at the Best Western two minutes away. Much, much nicer.

There are some decent restaurants in the same parking lot, which is a nice bonus. The hotel itself smelled musty throughout, and there was mold everywhere in my room. I took a few rushed photos on my way out. Some stuff, maybe ear wax and/or snot, was smeared across the walls. They were out of coffee the day I was there. I'm a diamond member and have spent a lot of time in IHG hotels, and the other recent reviews are right. This place is disgusting. The staff were super nice, maybe the nicest I've met in any hotel this year, but the room isn't fit for habitation. I was promised a points refund for the awful stay, but it never arrived.

The place smelled bad, looked outdated, and had a leaky roof. It was nice to have appliances, but they were gross and very outdated. I wouldn't recommend staying here, even if they hadn't lied to me. I booked two nights in queen beds for my wife and kids, but the beds were smaller full beds. I had screenshots of my booking. At the desk, they said the hotel didn't have queen beds and blamed the booking site. I asked to cancel for a refund because the room wasn't what I'd booked. Since we'd gone into the room, they refunded only one day. They told the booking company the amount they kept was their cancellation fee. They didn't keep their end of the bargain and charged me for it.

The woman at the front desk was very kind and tried to find us a room without moisture, but the whole building was damp. It was disgusting. The entire building smelled musty after recent water damage, and our room's rug and bed were soaked with moisture, as were many of the other rooms.
