Motel 6 Boise - Airport

The room was clean, the TV worked, and the bed was comfortable. The amenities are older, and a mini fridge isn’t included, you have to ask for one. It was mostly quiet, and the staff were friendly. The building is old, so the halls felt hot and muggy during the heat wave, even though our room was very cool. I had a decent stay with my dog and would come back.

I felt safe on the property, even late at night and in the early morning, and the room itself was clean, had no odors or stuffy air, and everything was there as it should be. The air conditioning and heater worked fine. There was even a luggage rack, which I used. The rates are a real help for pet owners like us: other higher-priced hotel chains in Boise ask for an unreasonable nonrefundable deposit per pet plus a high fee per pet, so Motel 6 is a major blessing. The owner seemed a bit weary, which I understand given the volume and variety of guests to accommodate while maintaining order and service. I’d rate the rooms higher if a few things improved. Mine was marked for handicapped guests, but there was no grab bar by the toilet, and the seat was much too low for someone with mobility issues to get up and down. Unless you experience it, it may be hard to grasp how difficult that is. The remote’s back cover was missing, with the batteries taped in. Both beds were on platforms, and the mattress shifted around easily. The platform setup was less comfortable, and with my leg problems, getting between the beds meant awkwardly shuffling sideways. I’d stay again, but would try to book through the app and make sure the room has what I need to function comfortably.

Joe, I believe that was his name, was the best part of this stay. He was friendly and helpful at check-in, and the overnight employee was the most pleasant person we dealt with. The beds were the worst I’ve had at any Motel 6, with springs poking through the mattresses. For three guests staying three nights, there was only one bath towel, so we had to go to the lobby for more. The hallways had a strong, unpleasant smell. On our second day, an employee, maybe the manager, came to the room saying she’d had reports of fighting and things being broken. She was rude, hostile, and forceful. My husband was lying on the bed watching videos on his phone while I got ready and talked on speakerphone. There was barely any noise from our room, and the accusation made the rest of the stay feel tense, like we were walking on pins and needles. I couldn’t wait to leave. I stay at hotels often for work, though this was a vacation, and I’ve never had an experience like that. Following up on reports makes sense, but she could have approached us more sensitively in case she had the wrong room or the claim was false. Maybe the sound came from the loud vacuums housekeeping was using on the floor below.

Roe at the front desk is our hero. He was respectful, kind, and wonderfully helpful when we found a disgusting room, and he brought us a broom plus clean linens and blankets. We made the beds ourselves and were okay after that. The room had pet food on the floor, filthy flooring, hair in the sink and dresser, and sheets still full of pet hair. I might have let some of it go, but the sheets and blankets were dirty too. The place was fully booked, so we couldn’t change rooms. We were in town for a wedding and chose Motel 6 for the best price, booking two months ahead. The hotel is near the airport and has a pool, but it was closed for our whole stay after someone left feces in it. That wasn’t the hotel’s fault, and Roe apologized profusely.
