Quality Inn Airport

For one night in the middle of a long drive, this worked out fine. We got a clean enough room, checked in quickly even though the desk attendant had stepped out for a smoke, and slept well. The staff were friendly and gave us what we needed. The place is dated and could use updates, but for a cheap Boise motel near the airport, it was decent and felt safe. It’s no Bellagio, but it wasn’t some rundown dump either. Finding the breakfast room took me a minute because the layout is confusing, and a side door that was supposed to need a key was broken, so anyone could walk in. I was still comfortable in my room, and after a full day driving, a safe bed for the night was enough.

The best parts were the helpful, friendly staff, good breakfast, and the clean indoor pool area. The pool water looked crystal clear, almost like nobody had used it, which made sense once I got in and found it freezing. It’s indoors but not heated, and the hot tub was drained and out of order. The building feels rundown everywhere except the pool room and needs major improvements. The location is handy right off the freeway, but the surrounding hotels and restaurants were closed and abandoned, so the area felt like a ghost town. I also felt bad for the staff and their dog, since their AC wasn’t working and the fans weren’t helping. Our room was reasonably clean.

I only gave it a star because we made it through the night. There was a cigarette-burned coverlet, filthy carpet, and a toilet that screamed when flushed. We could hear talking and thumping all night. I’d recently had surgery and was too exhausted to switch hotels, though we nearly left and probably should have. When we told the desk how dirty it was, they said that was just how things were there. Afterward they replied with a “sorry we didn’t exceed expectations” and deleted my original review, apparently. This place was BAD. Don’t go here.

Breakfast was the standout for me: waffles, oatmeal, boiled eggs, yogurt, hot chocolate, and orange juice, all top of the line. The room was nice too, and the staff were pretty pleasant. I’d recommend this place 100%.
