Staybridge Suites Newark - Fremont by IHG

I spent two weeks here and was impressed by how clean the staff kept both the rooms and the rest of the hotel. Everyone, from the front desk to the cleaning crew, was friendly and helped with whatever we needed. My family also really enjoyed breakfast. It was always fresh and tasty. Thanks for the hospitality. I’ll definitely stay again and recommend it to friends and family.

The rooms were quiet, comfortable, and well cared for, so I got a genuinely restful night. Check-in was smooth too, with staff who were warm and efficient. The clean, calm lobby made a good first impression, and the stay felt like very good value. I’d recommend it and would be happy to come back.

On the third day of my weeklong work trip, someone broke into several cars, including mine. They were parked within about 50 feet of the main entrance. I asked the manager about cameras and was told they only have them inside. There’s a sign on the front door saying a security guard is on duty and watches the property, but several guests had their windows smashed and belongings stolen. Staff showed no empathy and said it happened at 6 a.m., apparently when the guard had just finished his shift. That timing feels suspicious. The person responsible may work here or know the guard’s hours, and must have known there were no cameras by the entrance. An officer said this happens a lot at the property, so I can’t help wondering if it was an inside job. Either way, your car and belongings don’t feel safe here. The hotel’s response made it seem like the guests were at fault. For a mediocre stay plus the risk of a break-in costing $250 or more, I’d look elsewhere. The Hayatt down the street is 1000x better, with guards in the parking lot who aren’t sleeping on the job. You’ve been warned.

On Wednesday evening, the water stopped while I was in the shower. Nobody had warned me about maintenance, so I had to call the desk with shampoo still in my hair to find out what was going on. A quick heads-up would have helped. Then, checking out around 7:10 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, the front desk employee avoided eye contact and came across as cold and disengaged, like she didn’t want to be there. When guests are paying a premium, basic courtesy matters. Communication and service both fell short.
