Motel 6 Norfolk Oceanview

We were out by 5 a.m. The towels were filthy, and they wouldn’t give me two more until the next morning. The fridge had no shelves, the microwave looked scary, and there was a sinkhole right in front of the bathroom door. The room made you feel unclean as soon as you walked in. The motel’s only elevator is turned off from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. And to top it off, we had to haul our things up to the room in a beat-up old Dollar General shopping cart.

The staff were a mixed bag, some were nice, while others acted like I’d ruined their day by showing up. The cash-only vending machines didn’t work, one laundry dryer was out of order, and when I needed quarters nobody came. I had to cross heavy traffic to a sketchy 7-Eleven to get change. The room was filthy and falling apart. The microwave was moldy, the sheets looked shredded, and the place reeked of weed. The AC was stuck on hot and sputtered, leaving me boiling. The toilet wasn’t even fixed to the floor. When I sat down, it shifted like a carnival ride and my poop smeared around the inside of the bowl. I drank the tap water and spent the whole next day feeling like I was dying. Don’t go here. It’s horrible, and an absolute disgrace.

The location was absolutely perfect, and the team made a strong impression from the moment I walked in. They’re hands-on and make each interaction feel personal, so you feel like a valued guest rather than just another transaction. I felt welcomed, appreciated, and cared for throughout. The staff are warm, professional, and genuinely committed to great service. They anticipate what you need and go above and beyond, combining professionalism with a real human touch. I can’t recommend them enough if you’re looking for an experience that exceeds expectations.

Room 324 has been updated, but the new floor was laid right over the old rotten one. It’s very soft in front of the bathroom. The room smells of incense and must from the AC, though the hot water works great. The floor was sticky and nasty, and a wipe with a towel left it black. The walls were covered in some kind of grime and need a good cleaning. The layout is strange, with a big open area and the bed and desk at the foot of the bed, making it hard to get through to the bathroom.
