We live in the area and usually get a hotel for the Spirit of Boise Balloon Festival so we don’t have to get up super early and deal with traffic. We tried this Residence Inn this year, and I’m glad we did. It’s my favorite downtown hotel in the Treasure Valley. You can’t beat the location: a short walk to Kathryn Albertson Park and the historic Train Depot, about 10 minutes to most of the BSU campus, 15 to the Morrison Center, and 20 to the Zoo. We loved having breakfast outside each morning in the seating area by the pool, with its grill and comfortable furniture. The pool was fun and well maintained, and the grounds and buildings looked cared for. Kudos to the maintenance team. I didn’t use the fitness room, but it looked nice. There are rooms for short or long stays, and our suite with a loft was perfect for the kids. They had their own bathroom, bed, TV, and home comforts, which let my wife and me nap in the other room without hearing them. The whole suite was really quiet. We ran the kitchen fan for white noise at night and all slept better than at any hotel in recent memory. The beds were great too. I’ve had a couple of back surgeries, and it stood out that I didn’t wake with extra back pain, even though I’m not usually picky. The full kitchen helped us cook and save money. The staff impressed my family and me constantly. I work in quality performance improvement, and I noticed plenty of signs that they value customer feedback and put that care into action. We can’t wait to return.

Keri, the AGM, helped us a lot with our trip and was so accommodating. The free airport shuttle was a great perk and made this place stand out. Debbie and Rebeca were helpful too, and they all made us feel at home in Boise, almost like family. We loved our time at the Residence Inn. Highly recommend.

We especially appreciated the spacious, clean rooms and full kitchen, which made our longer stay convenient. The hotel is quiet despite being central, with easy parking and a handy location right by Boise State. The greenbelt, restaurants, and downtown are all within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful from check-in through checkout, and breakfast was free with lots of options. We had a fantastic stay at the Residence Inn Boise Downtown/University. I’d highly recommend it for a Boise State visit, a downtown event, or a comfortable extended stay.

This old style Residence Inn has apartment-style rooms accessed from outside. It’s in excellent shape for its age, and the interiors have been updated well enough to still feel modern. I wish they still built them this way, though I imagine it would cost a lot more now. The standard Bonvoy breakfast was better than average for the chain. The recurring problem is employees smoking in the outdoor lounge areas meant for guests. On my stays, they’ve kept smoking there, making the spaces unusable for guests who dislike cigarette smoke or care about their health. After the gym or when I want to sit outside, that acrid smell is unavoidable. From the gym windows I can also see employees smoking and vaping in their staging area, which I have to walk past if my room is on that side. Management shouldn’t allow smoking in common areas meant for guests. Maintenance can be slow too: I reported that half the gym lights were out, and they weren’t fixed for at least two days, making it impossible to read my book while doing cardio.

The rooms are nicely kept, the grounds and shared spaces are well maintained, and the pool was in good shape too. It’s quiet and close to downtown and the university, without an extra parking charge. The staff seem to really care. I’d absolutely stay here again and recommend it.
