The hotel was clean enough, but we had two problems. We were promised handicap accessibility, but there was no ramp. We managed, though there were no grab bars in the bathroom and the toilet was very low. I specifically needed a higher toilet and grab bars, so that wasn’t acceptable. We were COLF. I called the desk for blankets, and the woman said they had mon. I said, “Really?” and she just laughed. I have NEVER been to a hotel

I’d give this place zero stars if I could. I paid $120 in cash for my mom’s dog, then we left a day early and they charged my debit card another $120. After a lot of arguing, they returned only $40, even though they still had the $120 cash. The sheets were stained, and nobody would work with me. I wish there’d been another hotel in town. Try an Airbnb instead. I’ve never complained about anything before, but I will complain about this.

My stay was awful, and the rooms were in poor shape. The windows looked like they’d never been cleaned, the bathroom mirror was dirty, and by my third day there were hundreds of ants scattered over the toilet. Nobody made my bed, took out the trash, or brought fresh towels and rags, so I ended up killing the ants with the same ragged towels they gave me. The towels were falling apart, and at least three times I had to dry myself with ones that were tearing. Even so, the receptionist and the owner's wife accused me of wanting to steal towels because I took a face rag with me to the gym and nearby stores while trying to get by in West Tennessee’s 95-degree heat. I repeatedly had to ring the front desk bell for towels and rags. The receptionist acted as if I was wrong to ask, and spoke to me and other guests like we were illiterate and a nuisance. She was only at the desk now and then, often lying down in the back. Once I rang several times when she wasn’t there, then waited six or seven minutes before she came out and told me not to ring because people were sleeping. It was 2:30 in the afternoon, with only one or two cars in the lot. When I explained we were within business hours, she argued back. The worst exchange was over the WiFi password. My mom had lost its pouch, so I asked for the password. Instead of giving it to me, she argued that it wasn’t available. After about five minutes, she finally provided it in an annoyed, rude way. I tried to be respectful since she’s an older woman, but her demeaning comments pushed me to confront her. The owner's husband, at least, was friendly and didn’t seem bothered by paying guests. The receptionist’s attitude and what I saw as laziness will drive customers away. The beds were uncomfortable, and I itched whenever I got into bed, with multiple bed bug bites. Until staff and cleanliness improve, avoid this place. If you’re going to Bolivar, you’re better off staying in Jackson and driving the 30 minutes into town.

My car broke down on Friday, and I was stuck in Bolivar until it could be fixed on Monday. A few other hotels had no rooms available until then, so I booked this one for just a day. The wonderful lady at reception said they’d check and see if I could stay through Monday. At 10 the next morning, a woman knocked on my door and told me they’d found me a room. I really appreciated them going the extra mile. The service was great, and the room was cozy, nice, and clean, all for a good price.

For a family-run motel, I was happy to see it had been renovated. The woman checking me in late afternoon on 2/1/25 was great and gave me useful information. The area outside the office and the second floor still need cleaning up after the renovation. The room looked good for the most part, but the cleaning products don’t seem to give the place its best presentation. I’d suggest better products for the floors and a toilet brush. The toilet bowl in room 209 is stained and needs a good bleach, or replacing if it can’t be cleaned. The location is great and very peaceful.
