We only planned six nights in Lake George, at the same hotel as our last visit, but new management meant it wasn't as accommodating this time. We decided to add a night, and with everywhere in town booked for Labor Day weekend, I looked in nearby Bolton Landing and found Contessa Resort online. The price was incredibly affordable, and they hadn't raised it for the holiday like the other hotels. They even let us check in early since we had to leave our other hotel and had nowhere to go. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. Christina, the owner's daughter, deserves a special mention. She gave me her number and said to reach out if we needed anything, then went out of her way to make our one-night stay peaceful and memorable. Other nearby hotel managers could learn from her. They provide kayaks, paddle boats, fishing gear, and more for free, while other places charge $20 or more for an hour of kayaking, which is disappointing and ridiculous. Contessa's location is beautiful, with incredible lake views. Our clean room had a wet bar, A/C, a heater if needed, a full-sized fridge, a queen bed, and a Roku TV system. I felt at home, and only wish we'd found this place sooner. We'll book a bigger unit there next year. That one night became one of my favorite days on the trip. Thanks to everyone at Contessa for making us feel welcome and well looked after. See you all next year!

Captain Bob found us a two-bedroom cabin when I called just two days before my best friend's birthday, and he was really helpful on the phone. I got there about an hour early with a few questions, never expecting to check in, but they let me, which was great. The cabin had everything we needed and a grill outside, plus an amazing lake view from the deck. Captain Bob's daughter was sweet too. When I couldn't figure out how to lock the door, she came down and helped me kindly. The staff were friendly, and we could launch our paddle boards at the marina. There's also a pool, basketball court, volleyball, playground, and marina on the property. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely come back.

My husband and I went with my sister and her husband, and we had a fantastic weekend at the Contessa. Christina was a pleasure to deal with, very helpful, and quick to answer my questions. The cabin was clean and the crew were lovely. I'd definitely recommend The Contessa Resort to anyone vacationing in Lake George.

This was our third year staying at the Contessa Resort/Captain Bob's and renting a boat, and we've had nothing but great experiences. The office and dock staff are fantastic and easy to deal with. It's a one-stop place for a perfect family vacation, with views that'll leave you in awe.
