Best Western Plus Governor's Inn

We had a comfortable room, with clean, tidy accommodations at a low price. The lobby coffee machine makes all kinds of drinks, including cappuccino and white chocolate mocha, and they were delicious. The staff were also incredibly helpful after we checked out at noon and stayed in the lobby to watch the football game. I left my backpack beside the sofa and didn't realize until four hours after getting home. When I called, they offered to ship it to me, which I never expected. It arrived safely, and I'm very grateful for the hospitality. We'll be back.

Chauna at the front desk is the reason I chose to stay here a second time. Even while juggling phone calls, check-ins, and what seemed like an overwhelming situation, she stayed calm and kind. That kind of thoughtful guest service feels rare these days, and she really impressed me. I hope she gets the recognition she has earned. The rooms were clean again, and breakfast was great, including the young woman cooking and serving it.

The front desk staff were the nicest people I've met at a hotel. Every woman I dealt with was welcoming, smiling, helpful with requests, and informative. Free lobby coffee was a welcome perk after traveling, and the rooms were clean with fresh-looking linens. The dining room was clean too, though the breakfast buffet was ordinary and the sausage was dry. Beds were just okay, and there was plenty of parking. The room itself was dated, with a very old bathroom and a very low toilet. My friend's room had a hair dryer, but mine didn't. The scented cleaner was so strong that the smell lingered all night. At $200 after taxes for the weekend, it felt far too expensive. I checked other dates and saw rates in the $80 range. It didn't feel like a $200-a-night Comfort Inn, or up to the standard of other Best Western Plus hotels. The door was so hard to open and close that it needed a hard pull or a slam, and scraping loudly like that made it difficult to sleep. The location is set back from the restaurant strip, near a major highway, and feels somewhat isolated. We saw people by the woods who made us uncomfortable, so I'd drive to nearby restaurants at night rather than walk. We needed a hotel that didn't allow pets, which this one did. Otherwise, for a one-night stay, I would've looked elsewhere. This wasn't my favorite, and I won't return.

The area was peaceful, and I had a good stay while visiting family in town. The hotel was clean, and my room had plenty of space.
