Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bonham

The hotel was dated, with peeling ceiling areas in my bathroom and stains on the carpets and hallways. The elevator felt a little sketchy. You could see they were gradually making improvements. I didn’t personally have any trouble with the staff, but they were rude to some people in my party, who left and booked a completely different hotel. If you’re in the area, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend staying here.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious, and the rooms were clean and comfortable with everything working. The bathroom was fantastic, too, with a clean shower, great-smelling soaps, spotless towels, and a mirror I loved. We stayed a little over a week and had a wonderful time. Thank you all! They are renovating, so the pool is closed. I’ve seen complaints about the work, but businesses still need to operate and make money to pay for renovations. They’ve done everything they can to keep the work from affecting guests’ stays. If you want to know whether the pool is open, call and ask. They’re very helpful. Best hotel I’ve stayed in for years!

Our decision to stay in Bonham was spontaneous, and we arrived completely unprepared. Sabrina at the front desk was incredibly kind and accommodating, going above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. Her warm hospitality made the stay so enjoyable, and we’ll definitely return. The rooms were exceptionally clean and spacious.

I can’t recommend this place, and I won’t stay again. The staff were polite, but the property is in terrible condition. The pool was closed, the gym smelled bad, and the whole building had foul odors. One stairwell smelled like a port-a-potty, the other like spoiled food, and the elevator like a horse barn. My room smelled of mold and stale smoke. The air conditioner was the main source, pumping out a throat-irritating stink every time it switched on and making sleep impossible. I took off the cover and found years of neglect, with mold and mildew all over it. See photos. It’s astonishing. The bathroom was just as bad. After showering, I felt like I needed another shower. The toilet was loose from the floor, tiles were cracked everywhere because the floor was rotten and soft, the shower shelves were falling off, and the curtain was moldy. There was hair in the toilet when I arrived, and the bath towels were stained. Breakfast was extremely low quality, powdered eggs and food microwaved from bags and cans. Trucks with loud exhaust raced around the intersection out front all night, making things even worse. I imagine anyone who leaves a good review has no frame of reference. Management’s canned replies to other bad reviews don’t reassure me that anything will improve, despite their claims that renovations are underway.
