Borger Ambassador Inn

The man at the desk said he’d just brewed it, but the coffee was awful, barely lukewarm and really weak. They only offered coffee, and this hotel needs a new coffee maker.

I was visiting from out of town, and this was my first pick when I got to Borger. It has a nice lodge feel, was very quiet, and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water too, and the front desk service was great. Thanks, guys, I’ll stay here again when I’m back in town.

The room looked beautiful and the hotel is really cute, so I wanted to love it. But it was dirty. There was black hair in the bed and on the shower curtain, a strange yellow stain on the hand towel, and black marks on our towels, including one shaped like a whole foot.

The facilities weren’t bad, but the place felt poorly run and was advertised inaccurately. The listing promised an indoor pool and breakfast buffet, and neither was there. I’m not bothered about the pool, but breakfast matters when you’re working out of town. Our refrigerator also didn’t work, so after work we came back to warm food that was supposed to be cold. On Sunday morning there was no coffee. The woman at the desk said she’d make more once she could get to the store for filters. Two staff members were there, but the other man was outside smoking, and it seemed like he could have gone to get them. I was very disappointed. The hotel may deserve more than the one star I gave, but it definitely shouldn’t have the 4.5 star rating I saw when searching.
