Hampton by Hilton at the Boston Seaport District

We were happy with most of the stay: the hotel looked freshly renovated, was very clean and well kept, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Breakfast was included and perfectly fine. The gym was clean, and the pool wasn’t huge but was big enough to enjoy. Valet parking was the problem. It didn’t feel like full valet service: they told us where to leave the car and then moved it themselves. When we got it back in the morning, there was a dent and scratch on the side that definitely happened while it was parked there. There were too many cars for the available space, and the parking staff never mentioned the damage when they returned it. The stay was pleasant apart from that frustrating parking experience.

The location worked well for walking to lots of attractions, including the aquarium, and the harbor view was very nice. It was a bit far from the seaport district, though. The room was comfortable and clean, but the bathroom’s sliding door had no lock, which was annoying. There was a well-stocked lobby shop with drinks and snacks. Coffee and tea were available all day, and the small pool was well maintained with plenty of clean towels. Breakfast had a large selection, but most of it wasn’t very good. The waffles were good.

The staff were great: knowledgeable, helpful, and upbeat. The location was harder to like, with mostly warehouses nearby and a 10-15 minute walk to pretty much anything. Soundproofing was among the worst I’ve experienced at a hotel. Planes kept flying overhead, and we could hear neighbors opening doors and talking as clearly as if they were in the room.

The room was clean and nice, though the fridge was tiny. I won’t stay here again because valet parking cost $62 and no other option was offered. I should have checked that in advance, but it was dark and pouring rain, so I had to pay.
