Residence Inn by Marriott Boston Downtown/Seaport

This has become our go-to Boston hotel. We first stayed here after flying into the city with our baby on the way to our home in Vermont, and we’ve kept coming back ever since. We live mainly in South FL and visit Vermont every season. Now that our son is a toddler, we’ve spent plenty of nights in Boston and tried several hotels, but this one became our favorite right away. The staff are always kind, professional, and accommodating. They recognize our high status and offer upgrades when they’re available, or a courteous late checkout. The clean, spacious rooms have everything we need, which makes traveling with our son much easier. The location is great too, with a lovely short walk to the water and plenty of good restaurants nearby.

I’m a Marriott Ambassador Elite member, and this was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. I spend about half the year in hotels and strongly recommend avoiding this property, especially in winter. If you do stay, you may want to bring your own mattress cover and sheets. On December 15th, 2025, I checked in to Room 624 and found it freezing. I reported the heating problem right away and was told it would be fixed. I waited outside the room for nearly three hours, then returned after staff said it had been resolved. Nothing had changed. When I raised it again, the front desk receptionist, Allana or a similar name, was extremely rude and unprofessional, and challenged what I was saying. I asked her to check the room herself. Staff eventually inspected it and admitted the heat still wasn’t working and couldn’t be fixed. While I waited in the lobby, I saw several other guests dealing with the same problem. It seemed management knew many rooms had no working heat but was still checking people in. It was around 14°F in Boston, and guests were sitting in the lobby in coats, gloves, and hats. I was moved to a different room later that day, and the heat worked there. The next morning, though, I found Room 411 dirty and had bed bug bites on my feet. I contacted the Marriott Ambassador line right away, canceled my reservation, and moved to another hotel.

The rooms were clean, and the newer Residence Inn has a design that gives it some old Boston charm. The reception staff were lovely and kind, and there were cookies at the entrance. LUCKY'S is only half a block away and works well for a late night bite. There are lots of other places to eat nearby too. The parking garage is close, and they let you unload your car and leave it in the driveway for a few minutes, which is handy. Beautiful hotel.

I’m staying at the residence Inn by Marriott in downtown Boston Seaport, and the service has been the best I’ve ever experienced. Ashly deserves a special shout out for patiently and thoroughly answering all my annoying questions through chat. Veronica and Widelfry also went out of their way to help my parents get some sleep with two munchkins. They kindly changed our studio type so the bed and sofa bed were farther apart. With service like this, I’ll stay at a Marriott again for my next hotel trip, and I’m becoming a loyal customer!
